"Until this apprentice gets her warrior name she will be known as Duskkpaw. Stormheart will be your mentor, Stormheart, Shorttail was your mentor and I hope you will pass on the skills you learnt from him onto your apprentice."
"Duskpaw, Blossompaw, Joypaw!" Shouted their clan mates around them.
I can't wait to be the very best apprentice. Stormheart seems a bit strict but I will work hard.
Willowheart and Mousetail were looking very proud at them and Duskpaw felt her heart burst with joy as her clanmates congratulated them.
" I'm so proud of you. If your new den is too cold then tomorrow go collect some moss and I will bring you some feathers." Said Willowheart
" Thank you Willowheart." Replied Joypaw.
That night Joypaw, Duskpaw and Blossompaw sat a silent vigil. It was very cold as it was almost about to be leafbare.
I wonder if I should tell them about what Berrytail told me. I was probably just tired and imagined it. I will just ask Stormheart tomorrow who Berrytail is.
When it was Sunup the warriors started to come out and going for the morning patrol. Duskpaw saw her parents going for the morning patrol.
" How was the vigil? It must have been very chilly." Asked Willowheart
" It was a bit cold but it was ok." Replied Joypaw.
Willowheart started to lick her kits and they protested.
" Willowheart we are apprentices now, we don't need you to lick us." Said Blossompaw embarrassed.
" No matter how old you are, you three are still my kits." Replied Willowheart.
I wonder what the senior warriors think. They probably think that we still need Willowheart. StarClan save me.
Mousetail intervened and told Willowheart that it was time to get back to the patrol and they left.
Stormheart, Whitefang and Primrosepetal came to train the apprentices.
" Today we are going to be going to the forest and taking a walk around our territory and we will teach you how to border mark." Told Whitefang.
" Will we be going together?" Asked Duskpaw.
" Because it is your first day we decided to keep you three together." Replied Primrosepetal
Duskpaw was happy to be with her littermates. Blossompaw and Joypaw went ahead with their mentors and Duskpaw slowed down so she could talk to Stormheart.
" What happened? Should we take a break?" Asked Stormheart.
" No, I just wanted to ask you a question."
" Ok, ask away."
" Who is Berrytail?"
" What...how..where. Where did you hear that from." Asked Stormheart clearly nervous.
" Well I overheard some apprentices when I was coming here." Lied Duskpaw.
" Duskpaw listen clearly, do not ever repeat the name Berrytail, ever."
"Why?"
" Because I told you, just forget you even heard her name and don't ask anyone about her."
" Ok."
"Come along now, let's get back with them."
Stormheart and Duskpaw caught up with everyone and the mentors taught them how to mark the borders.
