Chapter 17: The Dark Forest

When Duskflower opened her eyes she found herself in the Dark Forest! The trees will tall and she could see only darkness for a long time. 

What am I doing here. Oh no, did Berrytail take me here.

But when she looked around she didn't see Berrytail. Suddenly she heard her voice but it was quite distant. She followed the voice and saw many cats gathered around her great grandmother. Berrytail looked straight at her but she didn't see her. 

That's strange, can she not see me? 

She went in front of Berrytail and looked but she once again ignored her. She realised that none of them could see her. 

"Now for this to work, I need one more cat. Any ideas?"

"What about a kit?" Asked a white she-cat with brown stripes.

"Fallowshine, I said I need a cat not a kit. You mousebrain." 

"Does it have to be from LighningClan, I could kill my son from ThunderClan." Asked a brown tom.

"Shut up! I won't explain it again."

"What about Rosevine? She's pretty weak and she lost her kits so she won't be a strong opponent." Said a black colour tom.

"Darkheart for the first time you've actually given me a good idea."

"Thanks, I think." 

"So I'll kill Rosevine in a half-moon and then the long path to freedom begins."

Oh no! I have to tell Stormstar and Rosevine. Now how do I go back? 

Duskflower shut her eyes and when she she opens them she's back in her nest. She quickly goes to the leader's den and calls out to Stormstar.

"Duskflower what are you doing, its not even dawn yet."

"I need to speak with you, its important." 

"What ever you need to talk about can wait."

"No it can't."

Leafwind woke up and called out to Stormstar.

"Stormstar, where did you go?"

"Coming."

"Now Duskflower wait until dawn and we can talk.

"If we wait until then, Rosevine may not be alive."

"What are you saying? Don't talk nonsense."

"I'm not! You have to belive me."

She started talking about everything since she was a kit.

"...And now she wants to kill Rosevine for one of her twisted plans."

Stormstar was speechless for a while. 

"I know you need time to think, but Rosevine's life is at risk here." She said impatiently.

"No need to be rude Duskflower, it does take a cat quite a long time to process this."

"Imagine being the cat having to see and listen to all this." She muttered quietly.

Stormstar pretended like he didn't notice and started talking once more.

"Now, what do we do? I mean she is a spirit. The best thing we can do is to warn the Clan. Who else knows about this?"

"You, Mossflame and Willowheart."

"Hmmm...did she say when she was going to kill?"

"In a claw-moon."
