Duskflower's Story

Chapter 12: Stormstar

   "Ahhhh! What are you doing in my nest!?" Yowled Duskflower. 

"Shhh, keep quiet Duskflower, you don't want to wake up the whole Clan."

"Excuse me, you're the one who crept into my nest."

"Last night I was going towards my nest that's when I saw Blossomflight and Fallsplash sleeping on top of my nest. So I thought I was just come next to you. Also you kick a lot in your sleep."

"Don't. Ever. Come. Into. My. Nest. Every. Again."

"But..Blossomflight said you wanted to be my mate." He asked clearly confused.

How dare she! 

"Blossomflight doesn't speak for me. And I'm not interested in a mate right now."

"Come on, it's not like you have anything better to do."

"GET OUT!"  

Hailstorm was upset but he left the den. 

I am going to kill Blossomflight!

But when she went outside she was struck with a terrible surprise. Branchstar had peacefully died in his sleep. The whole Clan was shocked as they all belived he had two more lives left. Only Tansyleaf and Stormheart seemed not so shocked. Duskflower was certain that Berrytail did something. 

This is terrible. I am positive that Berrytail killed him. How powerful is she? 

She ran over to Willowheart who looked shocked and heartbroken. She quickly remembered that Branchstar and Willowheart were littermates. She felt bad for her mother but didn't know how to comfort her. Duskflower went over to Willowheart and gave her a nuzzle. 

"I'm really sorry Willowheart."

"It doesn't make sense, he told me he had two lifes left."

"I have a doubt its Berrytail."

"You need to promise me that whatever she says, you will be loyal to LightningClan."

"Of course, I promise."

Willowheart looked a bit relieved. Stormheart made his way on the Lightning Rock and called the whole Clan. 

"I know Branchstar's death is shocking and devastating for all of us. I will miss his support and his help. Let us sit for his vigil and then Tansyleaf and I will go to the Moonstone to receive my nine lives."

The Clan made a circle around Branchstar and all told memories about him.

"He was an amazing leader and my best friend from the moment we were born he-" Willowheart choked up. "He was kind, compassionate and loving and I miss him."

"He always was there for me whenever I needed to talk, he was there for everyone. He was always cheerful and he was a strong leader." Said Duskflower.

  The whole Clan spoke and shared tongues with him for the last time. They sat vigil and he was burried by Runningcloud, Shorttail, Frostnose, Hopwing, and Dovetail. Soon afterwards Stormheart and Tansyleaf left to the Moonstone. 

Willowheart went out to remark the borders, to clear her mind, and Duskflower decided to find Blossomflight to have a little talk. 

As expected she was with Fallsplash by the river.

"I need to speak with you Blossomflight."

"I have nothing to say to you."

"Good, then you can listen. Come on!"

"Just leave us alone, we were having a private discussion."

"I really need to talk to you then you can do whatever you want."

"Fine." She said dramatically. "See you in a bit Fallsplash."

"Bye my sweet."

My sweet! And they say they're not mates. That vole I ate is about to come back up. 

She took Blossomflight into the forest and started to talk.

"How dare you tell Hailstorm that I wanted to be his mate!"

"Well, you seemed lonely so I wanted to help."

"I don't need your help and I am not lonely! Why can't you just give it up?"

"Sorry I wanted to make my sister feel happy!"

"Stop playing the victim!"

"I'm not. Why don't we both just go our seperate ways and not disturb each other?!"

"That would be great."

And with that the two she-cats stormed off. 

Duskflower decided to go and talk to her mother about Blossomflight.

"Willowheart, Blossomflight and I had another fight about the whole Hailsto-"

"Why are you both acting like kits? Branchstar died and both of you have nothing better to do then argue with each other!"

"Sorry Willowheart."

"Why don't you go make yourself useful and help the Clan instead of fightning!"

"Yes Willowheart."

She hurried off feeling ashamed with herself and angry at Blossomflight. 

She was just about to go and hunt when Tansyleaf and Stormheart/Stormstar came in.

"Attention all I have gotten my nine lives."

"Stormstar, Stormstar, Stormstar!" Cheered the Clan. 

 I will now be telling the new deputy."

The cats started to mumble.

"So soon"

"I wonder if he thought this out properly."

"Isn't it a bit too early."

"Don't worry I have given this a lot of thinking. I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of LightningClan is Hazelwind."

The light brown she-cat looked shocked but pleased.

"Hazelwind, Hazelwind, Hazelwind!" Yowled the cats.

"Thank you Stormstar. I promise I won't let you down."

"I know you won't."

Hazelwind is a good choice, she is young but experienced. She is a very well loved cat and she is a fearsome warrior. I don't think any cat would have a problem with her. Brachstar will be missed but Stormstar and Hazelwind will be great leaders of LightningClan. 

Little did Duskflower know that from the Dark Forest, Berrytail was planning her next attack with a familiar face.
