Duskflower's Story

Chapter 16: A Blast from the Past

    After a very tiring morning Duskflower wanted to relax but she was overcome with many emotions about what was happening lately. 

   She was sad about her brother, angry that her sister was still hissing at her every move, annoyed with Hailstorm for following her everywhere (or at least trying to), scared at the mere thought of Berrytail. The only thing happy was that Willowheart was talking to her but she didn't mention anything about Joystripe.

She decided to visit the elders, they always found ways to cheer up any cat that comes their way. The nursery cave and the elders cave were right next to the Lightning Path. She could see her mother and sister sitting together and laughing away. Blossomflight  saw her but didn't mind her. Crystallight and Willowheart gave her a wave and gestured to come inside.

Sorry  but if I come my sister may claw me. 

She pointed her head towards the elders and Crystallight smiled at her and nodded as if saying 'Ok'. Willowheart came outside the den to tell her something.

"Bring them something from the fresh kill pile."

"Good idea, I forgot."

Willowheart winked and went back inside. 

Duskflower went and choose a squirrel for Hopwing and Frostnose, a carp for Runningcloud, a vole for Flowerpetal, a pigeon for Dovetail, and a few minnows for Shorttail. She could barely carry all the prey and Primrosepetal noticed.

"Do you need help?" She asked.

"Yes please."

Primrosepetal grabbed the pigeon and squirrel and half of the minnows. They made their way towards the elders cave. As they entered Hopwing was the first to notice them.

"What a lovely surprise! Its been moons since we've seen you Duskflower."

"Primrosepetal, Mossflame was wondering where you were, he came in earlier."

"Oh I forgot we were supposed to hunt together, I'll visit all of you later." Said the rose-coloured she-cat as she ran out. 

"Mossflame and Primrosepetal, I would have never thought." Teased Dovetail.

The whole den erupted with laughter. 

"Here is all of your prey." She said, quickly remembering the prey.

She passed around the fresh-kill and the elders started eating.

"Dear, why don't you eat some vole with me?" Asked Flowerpetal.

"No thank you, I already had a carp earlier." 

"Why brings you around? Want to hear a story?" Asked Runningcloud.

"Its been a long time since I've seen you all so I thought I'd visit. And a story would be lovely."

"Which one do you want to hear?" Frostnose asked.

"A story about my parents." 

"Oh those are the funnest to tell. Blossomflight also loves those stories." Hopwing said.

"Now which one should we tell her?" Asked Frostnose

"I know! The one where Moustail tried to climb The Great Willow Tree when they were apprentices to impress Willowheart." Exclaimed Hopwing.

"I need to hear this." Said Duskflower.

Willowpaw, Branchpaw, Mousepaw, and Leafpaw were allowed to into the forest without their mentors just after they finished their warrior assessment. All four apprentices loved to stay by The Great Willow Tree as they could hid under the long leaves.
