I woke the next morning to an empty hospital bed. I got upset, like it was all a dream. I started shifting around to go back to sleep when Owen and Alex. Owen had red roses in his hand, and that melted my heart. He put the roses in a vase on the night stand next me and sat down. Alex sat on the other side of the bed, rubbing my arm.
"Felling any better?" Alex asked, his face soft. I just nodded, looking at Owen and putting my hand on his thigh. "That's good. Please don't scare us like that again. I really hope you didn't mean to cut as deep as you did. The doctor's being stupid and discharging you into your farther's care because he's your legal guardian. But the good thing is is that you can come home with us until he gets home, because apparently he wasn't home when they went there and they called his cell and he said that he won't be home for a while. He also said that the minute you step into that house after your discharge, he's gonna go home so he can 'take care of you'. I just rolled my eyes at that. But, he said nothing about one of us getting your stuff so you can stay with Owen. So that's our plan once you get discharged." I smiled a giant smile and squeezed Owen's thigh. I looked at him and he smiled.
"I'm gonna make sure that you get the proper treatment when we get home," Owen added. "I'm gonna treat you like royalty. You are my queen, and you deserve to be treated like one." He pecked me on the lips after his little speech.
The doctor walked in, clearly happy about the news he had, looked at Owen and Alex and said "Danielle can't go home with you two. She needs a legal adult to discharge her since she's not 18, and neither one of you are yourselves Her father will be here shortly to sign her out."
I was devastated. I wanted to start crying again, but I just wiped away the tears and looked up at Owen. He looked at me with sad eyes, like his world just fell apart.
"Ok, doctor," Alex said sadly. "Thanks for letting us know." The doctor nodded and walked out. Alex turned to me and said, "Well, there goes that plan. We need to think of another way that we can get you out of that house."
"Well, your gonna have to think harder, because as long as she's under 18, she's staying with me, and there's no proof that I did anything to her that you have," A voice said. I immediately recognized it and tried to hide myself inside of my bed, wishing it could sallow me. "Oh and Owen, is it? Yea, well I'm gonna make sure that you are never near her to make her feel happy at all, and make sure that she's safe. She's my daughter, so I decide what she wants and needs, and your not part of the equation. Now, I need to to talk to her alone get out." I immediately grabbed Owen's hand and put it under my thigh. He looked at me sadly, his deep brown eyes comforting me. His longish dirty blonde hair fell in front of his eyes as he dropped his head and brushed his lips against mine. I pushed up to connect our lips, my hand moving to cup his cheek.
The next thing I knew, Owen got yanked off of me, causing me to curl up into a ball at the head of the bed. Dad, whose face was as red as a rose, pushed the both of them outside and locked the door. He turned around, unbuckling his belt, and said, "I swear, he see or talk to him again, you're gonna get it real bad." I nodded, still curled up in a ball, and he pulled me out straight and spread my legs open, taking himself out.
