When we got home later that day, I immediately ran into my room and locked myself into my closet. I was debating whether or not to text Owen about what happened but I decided to call Alex about. I explained it to him, but he wanted to know if Owen knew about it.
"I was debating about it," I explained. "But I decided to talk to you about. I'm sorry if I didn't talk to Owen first. It's just an instinct to talk to you immediately."
"Well we're gonna tell him right now," Alex demanded. "I'm gonna call him and you are gonna tell him what happened."
"Ok," I said, defeated. I waited for Owen to answer before spilling everything to him. It was difficult telling him, since I wouldn't tell him anyway, but at the same time he needed to know how bad dad can get.
"Omg," Owen exclaimed. "Ok I'm calling DYFS-"
"No," I whisper yelled. "My dad will make me take a dirt nap before they even get here."
"Well, something needs to be done about this, Danielle." Owen and Alex pleaded.
"I know," I said defeated once again. "It's just that.........when I die, I want to by either my own hand or natural causes. I just don't want to deal with him anymore, but I can't do anything about it until he dies. But we all know that's never gonna happen, so might as well take my own life so you guys don't have to worry about me anymore."
"Hey, don't say that," Owen complained. "You don't need to end everything to stop us from worrying. We just need to make sure that you won't pull any stunts like you did yesterday. That'll stop us from worrying."
"Danielle," Alex started. "I'm coming over, and there's nothing that you can do about it. Your father has nothin against me, so he's not gonna be mad if I come over. I don't care that he doesn't want anyone seeing you, I'm gonna do it because I care too much."
"Alex please don't," I pleaded. "I know him better than you. He's gonna hurt you and I don't want that. I don't need you to get hurt just because you're worried about me. You're too kind to deal with-"
"But I want to get you out of his custody, Danielle!" He yelled. I flinched and hung up. He never yelled at me before. He's always been the calm one in our friendship. I shouldn't rely on him to be the strong one, but I'm not strong enough to calm myself down, so I've always had to rely on him to be the strong one. He never yelled at me in all the years that we've been friends until now. Until this point, he's always been the calm one.
I broke down crying, scared of what he might say to me next. I needed him to tell me that it'll be alright, but he just yelled at me for no reason, the scariest reason there is for yelling at someone.
My phone started going off. Alex was calling me, but I couldn't answer. I just threw my phone at the mirror, shattering the middle of it. I just cried harder, not able to look at my reflection. I started rocking back and forth. My phone kept going off with calls and texts from Alex and Owen. I didn't answer them, just crying myself to sleep.
