Spencers POV
As day light began creeping through the windows of the waiting room, exhaustion was hitting all of us. Zac had asked to borrow my phone to check on the kids, and I handed it to him without even looking up from the ground. My leg was bouncing frantically as I braced myself.
A few moments later Zac returned and handed me my phone as a man in a white coat approached us.
"You must all be here for Miss Allen!" he said.
"Yes how is she?" Bailey shot up, clinging to Zac.
"She's still stable, but she hasn't woke up yet which is a bit of a concern. You can go see her if you like, but we ask that only one person goes in the room at a time."Bailey nodded before she turned to me and Derek.
"Do you mind?" She whispered, almost as if she was afraid of my answer.
I wanted to tell her no, and run into the room as fast as I could, but The look on her face told me how bad she needed this and I truthfully needed a moment to compose myself.
"Go ahead, I'll go in after you!" I replied, as I watched her disappear down the hallway.Derek spoke to Zac and said he needed to get home to his kids, but told Zac to call with any news before he left.
"Are you going to be okay if I take Bailey home when she's done?" Zac asked turning to face me.
"No." I replied, and truthfully I wouldn't be okay until she was home and back to normal.
"We can come back whenever, I just don't want the kids to panic and I know Bailey needs to rest."
"Don't worry about me Zac, I'm not leaving until she does, or until she makes me!"
"Thanks for calling your mom by the way! I would have called mine but they live an hour away! I just couldn't let either of you drive!" he shrugged.
"I get it Zac, look my mom is great and she loves kids, I really appreciate you being the rock for everyone!" I forced a half smile, awkwardly forcing responses to him. After a few minutes the guilt of being a dick caught up to me and I stood up and hugged Zac. Then I felt him stiffen.
Bailey.
I turned around to look at her and I could tell that she had been crying again, the whites of her eyes were red and her face was puffy, yet she looked calmer somehow.
"She's still unconscious, but it's all in her hands now. Zac I really need to see the kids." she said calmly.
"I'll call you both if there's any change." I said.
"Thank you Spencer!" She smiled before giving me a hug. "She's in 304!".
"Tell the kids I'll call them later." I muttered in her ear quietly. They both walked towards the exit as I slowly walked towards the rooms. As the numbers increased I tried my hardest to calm myself, to no avail. When I finally reached the wooden door to 304 I hesitated. I took one last deep breath to collect myself and slowly eased the door open, stepping into the room.
When I looked towards the bed I could see her laying there, eyes closed. She looked peaceful, almost as if she was in a deep slumber that would leave her feeling rejuvenated when she woke up. Of course I knew that wasn't the reality, especially as I sat in the chair beside the bed and looked at the side of her head.
The left side of her temple was bruised, with a giant knot protruding from the side of her face. She seemed paler than usual, yet to me she was still the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
I reached up and traced her forehead with my finger before curving it down the side of her cheek. I needed her to know it was me. Gently I leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her lips before sitting down and taking her hand in mine.
I interlaced our fingers and brought her hand up to my face, kissing her knuckles. There was so much I wanted to tell her, and I was determined to say it, whether she would hear me or not. If there was any chance she wouldn't wake up she had to know how I truly felt.
