It was the day of the invasion. Or should I say "failed invasion" Azula was 1 step ahead of the gang and had hid the firelord during the invasion. That didn't stop Zuko though from creating his own destiny. He stood up to his father during the eclipse. Zuko said that he will not take orders from Ozai anymore and that he's finally gonna join the avatar and restore balance to the world.
Zuko wanted to make it up to Iroh so bad. He had just realized that Uncle Iroh has been the only person in his life who was like a real father to him. Zuko knew that by joining the avatar would make his uncle so proud.
He broke up with Mai. Finally. Now he was just on his way to the air temple to find the gang. Zuko knew Katara wasn't gonna be too happy to see him, but he was really secretly excited to see Katara once again.
Once Zuko arrives at the air temple...
"Hello Zuko here" Zuko says with a big smile
The gang quickly realizes Zuko had followed them to the temple. Obviously they believe he's there to capture Aang. Katara seems the most angry he's there, Toph believes he's genuine since Appa really seemed to like him, Sokka's defense is all the way up, and Aang just seems confused?
Zuko tried his best to prove he's innocent and eventually they let him join the group.
Katara's POV:
This is ridiculous! He can't be trusted ever! Doesn't anyone remember everything he's done?! I just don't know how to feel anymore.

Later at night when Katara and the rest of the gang was asleep. Zuko laid awake thinking about Katara. He just wanted to be with her all the time, but she was angry. All Zuko wanted to do was just make things up to Katara. He loves her, he's only just starting to understand now.
