Renesmee slept soundly and was woken at half five by her Mum who, along with the other women in the family, helped get her ready for this evening.

As they did, she got the chance to get up to speed on everything that had happened since Monday.

It turns out she missed a lot.

They needed a plausible explanation for Mrs Tucker’s death and for the damage to the school, otherwise the finger might get pointed to them instead. So they said there was a gas leak and to ensure this looked as real as possible they had to blow up part of the school.

“You blew up my school?” she said in shock at this news.

“Afraid so,” her Mum replied. “Was it bad that a part of me really enjoyed it?”

“No, not at all. After all the time we spent there I felt a little thrill from it. We are evil monsters after all, remember,” Alice replied with a smile.

“I’d do it again if I could,” Rose added.

They all chuckled.

“Don't let this set a bad example for you,” her Mum said to Renesmee.

She found out that the authorities had announced Mrs Tucker’s death was as a result of the incident and that the funeral was next Monday. The school had the whole day off to attend. She was glad that she’d get a chance to formally pay her respects, she didn’t like the fact that they had to lie about the cause of her death, but it was unfortunately essential.

To cover up her disappearance they’d had to say Renesmee was caught up in the blast. It would look suspicious otherwise, as they knew Renesmee stayed late for play rehearsal. They made out like she’d held back to run over a few additional lines and was leaving the school when it blew up, so wasn’t in the full impact zone, which helped her survive. Carlisle had insisted that he treat her at home.

Everyone had seemed like they bought it, but they would inevitably want to question Renesmee once they knew she was awake. They had apparently called by the house to check on her whilst she was out of it.

“Why can’t Grandpa Charlie sort it out?” Renesmee asked.

“There is a district member of police sniffing about, so everything has to be above board,” Bella replied.

As Renesmee digested all of this information the others continued to fuss around her. She noticed that they seemed to be making a real effort on her just for a campfire, she had to admit it felt good to be pampered though.

By the time they were done she felt a million dollars. Alice had bought her a new cute short skater dress with a flower print.

“Why all the effort?” she asked, as she admired their work in the mirror.

“We figured you’d want to feel a little special after all of those days in bed,” her Mum replied.

“Plus, we thought you’d want to look nice for Jacob after such a long time apart,” Alice added. Renesmee blushed in response, but agreed with their reasoning.

She couldn’t wait to get going to see everyone again and, yes of course, she couldn’t wait to see Jacob, but she had to be patient while everyone else got ready. As she sat waiting for them downstairs she started to think they were taking their time on purpose.

“Has anyone seen my shoe?” Emmett asked, walking past her with a wry smile.

“No mate, I haven’t seen it. Have you seen my blue top anywhere? I want to wear it as it will go with my new jeans better,” said a shirtless Jasper at the top of the stairs.
