Salutations to the Aligena,
The great goddess born of the sea,
Salutations to the Anaduomene,
The lady who had risen from the oceans.

The epitome of beauty and giver of love,
The great lady who loves laughter,
She who can also cause destruction if raged,
Thus Areia is her other name.

You are one who gives forth satisfaction,
In the sacred art of lovemaking,
You are the great Ourania,
The quintessence of perfection.

Your shade is like that of the morning sun,
Your cheeks are red like the pinkish peonies,
Your lashes are curvy like the ocean waves,
A smile is always etched on your face.

Like the blossoms of rose,
You portray both a woman's brute and beauty,
She who is ever compassionate,
But shall not shake from beheading her enemies.

You are the Apostrophia,
The averter of unholy desires,
But you are also called Anosia,
The great unholy one.

You are the mysterious lady of contradictions,
Mercy and ruthlessness reside equally in you
Thus you are named both Kallisti, the fairest one,
And Skotia, the dark one.

You showed the world what passion is,
You shook three worlds to get your belove,
You vowed to destroy whatever came in your path,
If your Adonis wasn't returned to you.

You are verve and trepidation,
The fragility of love and its immense strength,
You are both pain and pleasure,
You reside in every human senses.

You are the blaze of the thunder,
And the softness of the dew,
You are the lady who ensures victory in war,
You are the herald of peace too.

You are the kohl with which I adorn my eyes,
You are the rogue which I apply on my lips supple,
You have blessed me with this voluptuous frame,
For this the temple in which you are served day and night.

You are the melody residing in my voice,
And my hands are made for your service,
Your holy name sanctifies the worst of the sinners,
For you absorb vices like the oceans from which you were born.

You are the begining and the end,
The mistress of every cosmos in existence,
You are its supreme protecter,
You shall bring forth their ends as well.

You are the great formless being,
And you are of a thousand forms,
You are the mistress of unlimited attributes and you are without any,
Beloved lady, you are the embodiment of the Supreme.

Thus here ends the hymn to the great mother,
She who taught us the meaning peace and love,
May she return those back to this warring world,
That is my sole wish to her.

(Old Version)

Like a mirror;

She is the embodiment of perfection,
The emblem of bodily satisfaction,
Aphrodite.

Like a rose;

She's both beauty and brutality,
The want of both gods and men,
The epitome of physical lustre,
Aphrodite.

Like a pearl;

She's one of a kind,
Different from those who surround her day and night,
The passion of the soul she is,
Aphrodite.

Like a swan;

Ever so gracious and full of elegance,
Which enchants every mortal mind,
She who is pleasure personified,
Aphrodite.

Like a dove;

She's the emblem of peace,
None can ever rival her in beauty or dexterities,
The glamour and fervour of every mind and soul,
Aphrodite.

Note; Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, identified with Venus by the Romans. The Greek word aphros means "foam," and Hesiod relates in his Theogony that Aphrodite was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus (Heaven) after his son Cronus threw them into the sea. Aphrodite was, in fact, widely worshipped as a goddess of the sea and seafaring; she was also honoured as a goddess of war, especially at Sparta, Thebes, Cyprus, and other places. However, she was known primarily as a goddess of love and fertility and even occasionally presided over marriage. Although prostitutes considered Aphrodite their patron, her public cult was generally solemn and even austere.
Aphrodite's major symbols include myrtles, roses, doves, sparrows, and pearls.

Personally, I think that she has a deeper essence rather than just as a goddess of procreation, pleasure and passion. Her tales are a metaphor, which might reveal a bigger truth beneath it, that is what I think of Aphrodite.
