Shade as white as the dazzling moon,
Radiance emanating from every pore,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who is the epitome of knowledge.Who dresses in white and is bedecked with pearls,
Symbolising sattwa guna or purity,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who is the lady of speech.Whose hands hold the veena, books, rosary and the water pot,
Whose mount is the elegant swan, who sits upon the white lotus,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who is the great mother.Who is the eternal consort of Brahma, the greatest of all creators,
Whose demeanour is kind and gentle,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who is the goddess of rivers.Who is the first of the tridevi,
The triad of the three great mothers,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who is the representation of reality.Who is said to be the mistress of music,
Of bhava, or the emotions portrayed in it,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who resides in every tune created.Who is the power of speech in us,
The purity guiding us away from dark,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who leads us from dark to light. The mother who gave birth to us,
And that of every living and inanimate,
I bow down to Maa Saraswati,
She who is the Supreme Being, unto whom shall we oneday merge.•||Om Aim Mahasarasvatyai Namah.||•

Note; Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is a part of the trinity (Tridevi) of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. All the three equal forms unite with the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva to create, maintain, and regenerate the Universe, respectively.
