A L E XAs soon as I got home, I went up to my room and locked the door. No one was home so I didn't have to worry about my mom and dad walking in. Walking around my room, I listened for the squeaky floorboard. After a minutes I found it and bent down. I put my fingernails into the narrow spaces around the floorboard and lifted it up. Inside I hid the flash drive in a small box.
Lifting up the flash drive, I stared at it. What's so important about this? What kind of stuff did Leo have on it? Obviously incriminating stuff ,idiot. I put the floorboard back and stood up. Now what the hell do I do?
"That's it?" A voice asked, scaring the hell out of me. In the process I dropped the drive on the floor.
"Oh great look what you made me do. You know that's literally my life right?" I asked Damon as he stood in the doorway. As fast as I could blink, he had picked up the drive from the floor and grabbed my hand.
"What are you doing?" I whispered. My heart was beating so fast , and only he could get me feeling this way. He set the flash drive in my hand gently and lifted his hand , setting it on my cheek. I looked up at him as he stared down at me with a small smile. Before I knew it, we were leaning into each other. The distance lessens and lessens until I could feel his breath on my nose.
"Oh yeah free live porn?" Oh course. Only Dylan. We separated, and I'm guessing the look on Damon's face was scary because as soon as he turned around Dylan ran for his life.
"I'm gonna kick his ass for that." Damon said. I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head on his back.
"You and me both." I muttered. Damon chuckled and turned, hugging me back.
"What are you doing here anyway? Wait no—how did you get in?" I asked him.
"You really need to stop leaving your door unlocked. Plus I knocked." He said.
"Yeah that does sound like me ." I said pretending to think. He chuckled and let me go so we could go downstairs.
"Hello gorgeous." Dylan said before getting a look from Damon.
"I'm just kidding." He said putting his hands up.
"Can I ask why you're all here?" I asked, sitting on the couch.
"Actually I—we came here for support." Matt said, appearing from the kitchen with a soda.
"Thanks guys but I think I'm good." I said, shrugging my shoulders. They all gave me a look.
"Look Alex, we are the only ones who know about the whole situation, you need us especially since the others don't know." Matt said sincerely.
"Ok but you better not do something that will get him beat up again." I said glaring at Damon while pointing at Dylan.
"Can we not bring it up anymore?" Dylan said, wincing.
"I'm really sorry about that man." Damon apologized.
"It's ok. It was either get beat up or a bullet in the head. But don't think I won't get your ass back for that." Dylan said glaring at Damon. Damon nodded at him.
"Ok so where's the number?" Matt asked. I pulled out the worn out piece of paper from my pocket and stared at it.
"Alex!" I jumped at the voice. I looked at Damon who had a hand on my shoulder. "Yeah?" I asked.
"You zoned out on us. Are you ok?" Matt asked. I nodded.
"Here goes nothing." Pulling out my phone I began to dial the phone number slowly and then when I finished I pressed the call button.
The only thing you could hear was the phone ringing as we waited for someone to pick up . After a while the ringing stopped and I was sent to voicemail.
"Hi um, my names Alex. You don't know me but you probably know my brother Leonardo. He told me if I was ever in trouble to call this number. So please call me back at this number. " I mumbled and then hung up.
"Well that was rude." Dylan said, frowning.
"It's probably an old number ,who know if it belongs to the same person my brother wanted me to contact, way back then." I said.
"Wait what about the number Henry gave you?" Damon asked. I had completely forgotten about that and pulled the card out analyzing the number.
"Wait hold on. " I said looking back on my call log. "It's the exact same number." I stated.
"What? Are you sure?" Matt asked. I nodded.
"Well hopefully they get back to us." I said.
Just then my phone buzzed In my pocket. I took it out and saw a text from the number.
Look in your mailbox. Take the flash drive provided .Copy all data from your drive on to that one and give it to them. Make no further deals or negotiations.
After reading it I stood up and walked out the front door and out to the mailbox. Inside was an envelope.
"What's going on?" Damon walked towards me. I handed my phone to them to read the message. Opening the envelope , and sure enough there was a flash drive. An exact copy of the one I had in my pocket only this one had no key ring. I held the flash drive up to show them.
"How did they know where you lived?" Dylan asked.
"Leo." I stated
"Does anyone else get the feeling that someone is watching us right now?" Dylan asked, glancing around the area for anything suspicious."I don't know, guys, something is weird about this whole situation. We're missing something."
"Maybe, but I just want to get this over with and get back to normal high school things." Alex said heading back into her house.
Shockingly Dylan's intuition had been right. Unknowingly someone was in fact watching them from across the street. As soon as the teens headed inside, Henry sat up in his seat from his car. Henry had hoped that Alex would follow his instructions, and everything would go smoothly. But knowing Damon and his friends, he knew there would be some bumps in the plan that was soon to follow. All he could do was to try and keep them from even more danger they could potentially face.
