When he was cleaning the house, Wu Li Chen was particularly attentive. He pulled out the trash bag and prepared to switch him. He rapidly blinked his eyes. Inside the bag was a cigarette that had lipstick marks on one end.
Cen Si Miao nestled herself on the sofa and spent what felt like ages handling money issues. Everything had gone smoothly, and she estimated that she’d be rich again in half a month.
Just after closing out the WeChat app, she heard another notification.
Liu Si: [Cen jie, I have a new dish here.]
[T/N: jie is a respectful term for a woman that is slightly older than you.]
She laughed softly.
Cen Si Miao ignored him, and as a result, Liu Si called her directly two days later. She hadn’t saved his number in her phone, so she had absentmindedly picked up the phone.
The tone of the caller was very warm.
Cen Si Miao wanted to hang up the phone, but when she looked to the side, she saw Wu Li Cehn standing there. Blinking her eyes, she subtly shifted her tone and closely listened to Liu Si’s words.
Until Cen Si Miao hung up the phone, Wu Li Chen didn’t react.
Cen Si Miao stared at the favorability rating that hadn’t moved for the last few days. When she checked her Weibo, she was nearly shocked to death. The situation unfolding before her was stupid.
The day Cen Si Miao had gone to visit Hu Yinli, someone had unexpectedly taken a picture of them. There was a clear view of Hu Yinli’s face, but hers was partially blocked by her hair.
But that picture was insignificant.
The more important picture was one of her affectionately holding hands with Wu Li Chen. The picture showed Cen Si Miao’s side profile and a clear view of Wu Li Chen’s face.
Although Cen Si Miao’s face wasn’t entirely visible, she could tell it was her from looking at her body.
The comments exploded.
@Powerful Fish Lover: I don’t understand the shit going on in the entertainment industry! What the hell!
@Oh, Rain: So it was like that? Wu Li Chen has a strong backer, so no wonder Hu Yinli was talking about him.
@Red: Don’t be stupid. That girl is rich. Wu Li Chen’s roles were all scored through her investments. She and Hu Yinli probably know each other. Both of them are rich folk.
@Shut Up, I’m Scared: What what what? I’m confused. Is Wu Li Chen really protected by a wallet?
[T/N: Wallet is slang for a rich person.]
@Leaning Against the Wall, Watching the Drama: If you don’t understand, it’s a rich girl with a young man. Do you guys still not understand?
The comments speculating about Wu Li Chen and his financial backer appeared at the top of the comments section. Few were able to tell it was Cen Si Miao, and the comments that mentioned her had few likes and no replies.
Cen Si Miao’s heart dropped.
Her progress was at 80%. She was just a few steps away from finishing, but now, everything was going backward. Cen Si Miao was most interested in knowing who had set this up.
Everything she had worked for was all floating away.
Cen Si Miao’s head throbbed with a migraine, and gritting her teeth, she asked the system who was behind this.
The system loaded for ages, before hesitantly saying, “Actually, my data is old and probably not reliable. It’s- It’s probably not right.”
Cen Si Miao was incredibly impatient.
“…”
The topic lingered in the Hot Search Top 5 for a day.
Multiple actors who had once worked with Wu Li Chen swarmed in droves, desperate to catch a glimpse of the drama. Some actors didn’t like to cause drama and strayed from the fire.
Some actors, however, stirred the pot in an attempt to gain more followers.
Ye Min Chi was the one who stuck out the most. She had a large platform with a considerable fanbase, and the first thing she did was post a vague remark on Weibo.
@Superwoman Xiao Min: You’ll fall when your wings shatter.
The comments under the post were snarky, and people were able to read between the lines to find the underlying meaning.
Shortly after, Ye Min Chi liked a post about the need for people to be autonomous and self-sufficient.
In the eyes of the netizens, this was a stain on Wu Li Chen’s little white face.
Quivering, Cen Si Miao tightened her grip and her phone. She desperately wanted to strangle Wu Li Chen. Suddenly, the Hot Search refreshed. Nervously, Cen Si Miao swallowed her saliva and opened up the search bar.
The first topic was #WuLiChen
Clicking on it, Cen Si Miao was greeted with a post that Wu Li Chen shared five minutes prior.
@Wu Li Chen: Freeload off a woman. // @Drunk Cat Lover: Can I ask what got you where you are today?
Cen Si Miao set down her phone and trudged to the kitchen. Her expression was especially ashen. Wu Li Chen, who was leaning on the kitchen counter playing with his phone, looked up at Cen Si Miao confusedly.
“What’s wrong? You don’t look too good.”
Cen Si Miao’s head whipped up. “What are you saying on Weibo?”
Slightly suspicious, Wu Li Chen replied, “What did you say? I just grabbed my phone. What’s going on on Weibo?”
Cen Si Miao took a deep breath.
After a while, Wu Li Chen looked at his latest post on Weibo. “Huh, when did I get hacked?”
Cen Si Miao, who was on the verge of exploding, tried her best to stay calm, but the anger leaked into her tone and in her eyes, and she scolded the man in front of her. Wu Li Chen lowered his head and frowned. He couldn’t help but feel a little wronged.
No matter what Cen Si Miao said, Wu Li Chen listened to it without making a sound.
Wu Li Chen waited until she had no more left to say before pursing his lips and saying, “I really don’t know what’s going on. Since someone is actively taking pictures of us, it shouldn’t be that hard to steal them.” His soft and tender tone made people unconsciously trust him.
Wu Li Chen looked up at her. “There’s probably going to be a big impact.”
Cen Si Miao was no longer in the mood to scold him, and she prepared to turn around and leave. Suddenly, she heard him say, “But I have an idea.”
She knit her eyebrows.
Wu Li Chen stared intently at her. “Marry me.”
