haruka ishiwaka's point of view

📆 one month before the interhighs

"I heard from Coach Toshiro both teams would be training together for a week." I told the tall male captain that was beside me. We were now walking towards their gym for training since it was bigger than ours. Our teams were also walking behind us in groups while also exchanging words with one another.

"Yeah, apparently Coach Washijo immediately said yes. I heard your coach called it The Special Training Program. Am I correct?" Wakatoshi asked me.

"What a very unique name." I chuckled sarcastically. "This is probably one of those intense trainings she likes us to do. Wonder why she invited your team."

"She said that someone was coming to train us." He told me nonchalantly which made me stop in my tracks. This also made Aki and Zumi, who were walking closely behind me, to bump into me. Wakatoshi stopped walking to look back at me.

"Oy! Why did you stopped walking!" Aki complained while looking at me in annoyance while Zumi pouted at me.

"Wait, she said that someone was coming over to train us? B-but the only one who trains us a month before competitions is —" My eyes widened before sprinting towards the gym.  I pushed open the gym doors to see Coach Toshiro and Coach Washijo talking to a tall male whose familiar back was facing me.

"Dad!" I exclaimed loudly making all the adults to turn to look at me in surprise. The surprise from my dad's eyes was replaced with happiness when he saw me.

"Haru!" My dad shouted back as he held his arms outwards for a hug, I ran towards him before jumping on him to give him a bear hug. Ahhhhh how I miss this warm hug!

third person's point of view

The boy's team looked surprised at the exchange happening in front of them. The Great Ace was in front of them hugging the captain of the girl's team while the other girls doesn't seem that shock.

"Aki, are you not aware that the Great Ace is here?" Semi asked the vice captain whilst staring at the older Ishiwaka in amazement. To the surprise of Semi and Tendo, Aki just laughed.

"We're used to it, at least us third years. He always come a month before competitions to train us. He's rarely in Miyagi so when he is here, he makes sure to train us and also to spend time with Haru." Aki explained to third years of the boy's team.

"Plus, it's almost like we grew up in front of Haru's dad." Zumi added as she smiled once she saw how happy her friend was after all, Haru hasn't seen her dad in 3 months.

Even Wakatoshi seemed a bit surprised by the presence of the veteran ace. But there was one guy who was more glad than surprised to see the ace.

"Uncle!" Tsutomu exclaimed happily as he ran towards the ace to give him a hug.

"Oh! Tsutomu! Glad to see you got in Shiratorizawa." The older Ishiwaka joked then laughed out loud with Haru.

"You should've told me you were coming!" Haru pouted at her dad which Tsutomu nodded in agreement.

"I wanted to surprise you! Plus Toshiro here told me not to say anything to you." The older Ishiwaka smiled warmly at both of his 'children'. He considers Tsutomu his own child as well, but still Tsutomu prefers to keep on calling him uncle, which was fine with him.
