As the weak human that I am, I just stood there trying to make sense of what I was seeing. Dennis was underneath alexander, who had him under control with his big hand on his neck, while Dennis was trying with all his strength to hurt Alexander. Alexander looked like he could've baked a cake with the one free hand he had, while still having Dennis under control.
"I'm going to let you go now. Please don't try to kill me once I do, you'll only humiliate yourself." Alexander said to Dennis in his calmed slow voice, like he had all the power in the world. It actually looked like he did. Dennis grunted in an affirmative way mainly because he wasn't able to talk with Alexander's hand on his neck.
Alexander let go of Dennis and they both stood up in a heartbeat. They were facing each other, Dennis had his fangs out like he wanted to fight Alexander, but Alexander looked like he wouldn't bother. I didn't want Dennis to try to fight Alexander, because I had a pretty good idea of who would win, so I did what I'd been wanting to do for a while. I ran to Dennis and I hugged him. It was a very emotional hug for both of us, I could feel it. He missed me and I missed him too. He probably even thought for a second that I might be dead, and I hated that he had to go through that. All thanks to Alexander.
"Stella." I'd forgotten how good my name sounded in his voice. I kissed him on the lips and held him even closer, ignoring the fact that Alexander was there. "I thought..." he began speaking once I pulled away from him for a second to look into his beautiful blue eyes. I sighed.
"I'm fine." I assured him. His hands had a strong grip on my waist, probably because he was trying to make sure I wasn't part of his imagination, and that I was there with him.
"Are you sure? Did he hurt you?" he asked, referring to Alexander. I turned around to see him. He had his arms crossed in his chest and he looked annoyed. I turned back to Dennis. God, I was so glad to see him.
"No." I said. I didn't like what Alexander had done, but I didn't want Dennis to try to kill him, because we all knew what would happen.
"I hate to interrupt such a romantic and endearing moment, but we need to get going." Alexander said. Something about the way he said it made me think he didn't hate it that much. I rolled my eyes.
"She's not going anywhere with you." Dennis moved me aside so he could look at Alexander. Please, not this again.
"Oh, but she is." Alexander replied in a confident way. I stood in front of Dennis again and I held his face with my hands to make him listen to me.
"Dennis." I'd missed calling him by his name. "We're going to New Orleans." I said. Dennis gave me a confused look, as I expected.
Then Jacqueline showed up out of nowhere, fabulous as ever with her model-like body and doll-like face, and she looked at Dennis the same way I did; like she missed him. I ignored the feeling of jealousy, mainly because there were more important things happening.
"I see we have company." Jacqueline pointed out to Alexander, who still looked annoyed. He nodded, and Jacqueline walked to stand next to him, then he surrounded her waist with his arm.
"New Orleans?" Dennis asked, and I turned to face him again.
"I'll explain on the way." I told him. I could feel Dennis wasn't too happy about the whole situation, and he still wanted to kill Alexander, but I thought maybe once I explained everything to him, he might feel less worried.
"New Orleans?" now it was Jacqueline the one asking.
"Yes, I've decided not to take her to Ophelia." Alexander said, and Jacqueline immediately pushed him away.
"What?" she was getting really upset.
"I'm taking her to New Orleans, and that's final." He raised his voice a little, and Jacqueline looked at him with some resentment in her eyes, but also with respect. A lot of respect. "Now, you're free to stay if you want, but I'd very much like for you to come with. With that said, if you do decide to come with me, you'll do so with your mouth shut." he said, a little bit louder than before. Jacqueline looked at him like she was a puppy that had just been lectured for doing something wrong. Me and Dennis were just observing the interaction. I wasn't sure what kind of relationship Alexander and Jacqueline had, but it was clear to me who was the dominant one of the two.
