"The legend says that about two thousand years ago in what is now Rumania, the witch Mihaela created the first vampire by channelling the energy from an eclipse." Sybil started explaining. "She was obsessed with creating a creature faster and stronger than humans that would stay beautiful forever, and she finally achieved it on her son Marius after years and years of trying. She was so proud of her creation, but she kept it a secret from the people of the village she lived in because she was afraid they'd turn against her. She lived surrounded by witches who would've condemned what she had done." she took a deep breath to continue with the story. "The pride she felt for her creation didn't last long, because only a day after she created him, she woke up to a village bathed in blood." she said. We all looked at her with surprise.
"What happened?" I asked. I had a clue what had happened, but I wanted to be sure.
"Marcus killed every single one of the people in that village." Sybil said. I gasped.
"What happened next?" Alexander asked.
"She did what any reasonable witch would do." Sybil said, and then she made a pause. "She killed her only son to avoid more death." Sybil said with a pinch of sadness in her voice. "She shouldn't have played with nature the way she did, and she realized that way too late. She thought the massacre she had witnessed was the way the spirits tried to let her know what she had done was wrong, and that she had to undo it."
"But if she killed the only vampire she created, then how are we all here today?" Jacqueline asked the obvious question. Sybil took a deep breath before answering.
"Because what Mihaela didn't know was that her son had given his blood to a few people before killing them." Sybil said, and we all looked at each other. "Now there were about thirty vampires she had to kill, and soon those vampires would turn others, and so on. She then realised the only way she could make up for her mistake was to create a way to kill all vampires at once, and that's were you come in." Sybil looked at me. All I could do was try to process what was being said to me as I tried to deal with how high I was.
"But she's not three thousand years old." it was Dennis' turn to speak.
"One of the witches Marcus killed had left a baby that survived the massacre, so she channelled all the energy from the death of the witches and she turned that baby into a creature that could in the future be used to fix Mihaela's biggest mistake." Sybil explained, but I still didn't fully understand how that was connected to me. "The problem was that it took an enormous amount of magic to make the baby an amulet that was capable of destroying an entire species, so Mihaela was left without magic. She ran away from the village and made sure the baby was safe with a family that loved her. She later wrote her story and detailed in a book how the spell worked. She also mentioned that every time an Imperium died, another would be born somewhere else, so one must be alive at all times, until one is used to extinct the vampire race and fulfil its purpose." Sybil looked like she had said everything she wanted to say, but then she looked at me with her bright green eyes. "You're an Imperium." I took a deep breath. I was way too high to process everything.
"So," I was trying to get my ideas straight. "I just happened to be born a second after another Imperium died." I said. Willow and Sybil nodded.
"I'm gonna need that book to corroborate your story." Alexander said to Sybil, she nodded.
"Willow, go get the book." Willow nodded reluctantly and then she walked behind the bar.
Right were the liquors were displayed, Wallow said a few words and the dispenser opened in half, revealing stairs going down. She walked downstairs, disappearing from my field of view. I wondered what they kept down there. There were probably books of spells and stuff like that.
