The Confession

It took a little bit, and he didn't get much sleep, but he finally caught up with her just before she reached Sunagakure. " Hey! Why'd you run away? " Shikamaru asked. She rolled her eyes at him. " Just leave me alone " She said. " Your acting weird " Shimakura. " N-no I'm not! " She said. " See, usually you'd call me idiot after every sentence. But just then you didn't. So what's up? " He asked. " I-I told you it's n..nothing s-so just drop it  right now! " She said. " And plus your stuttering. I've never heard you stutter so much before. Obviously something's bothering you " He sighed.

" Why do you care anyways?! I'm such a drag right! " She said. " Well, yeah a lot of times you are, but I consider you my friend, so of course I'd care " He said. " Y-your... friend? Me? The girl who bullied you ever since the first day we met. I'm your friend? " She said. " Yep. Also, I don't really mind the bullying as much as I make it seem. I just think that's your personality. Your sometimes rude and tomboyish. It's you, and I can't change who you are just because it's annoying to me. " He shrugged.

" Well still... " She said. " If you don't wanna talk, then I won't force you " He sighed, turning around.  " It's because your so stupid even though you've got the most brains out of everyone I know! " She suddenly shouted. " Huh? What do you mean— W-why are you crying?! " He turned around. Her face was flushed red with tears pouring. " Your a lazy slob who thinks everything is 'such a drag' and is always complaining! You've got a smart mind and a smart mouth and the things you say just completely piss me off sometimes! So much that I wanna kill you but every time I think of that it makes my heart hurt so much! I don't understand why this is happening to me at all and it's not fair! " She shouted.

" H-hey calm down what's the— " She cuts him off. " Why did I have to fall in love with an annoying smart-mouth jerk like you?! " She shouted. Then she realized what she said. She turned around with her arms crossed. " J-just go back to the leaf. Don't worry you won't have to worry because I'm not coming. I won't be a drag to you anymore " She rolled her eyes. Suddenly she felt his arms wrap around her waist. He hugged her tightly. She squirmed to try and get out, but he just tightened his grip. He rested his chin on her shoulder. " What are you doing! Let me go! I'm mad at you! " She said. He ignored her.

" Y'know, when you left the village, I always woke up feeling like there was something missing " He said. " I didn't understand it at all. I thought I'd be totally happy after you left, because I don't have any girl bullying me and pissing me off all the time. I'd finally be left alone when I wanted to be. But I wasn't happy. " He added. " So...? I don't care! " She said annoyed. " And my father noticed that something was wrong I guess. So he talked to me about it " He shrugged.

~Flashback~

" Shikamaru, let's play a game of Shogi " Shikaku said. " Alright " Shikamaru yawned, he walked over to his father, they sat in the hallway where they usually play. " So, Shikamaru. I've noticed that ever since your girlfriend left you've been kinda bummed out " He states. " Tch! She's not my girlfriend! " He said defensively. " Well, not now anyways " He muttered. " Huh? " Shikamaru asked. " Nothing— anyways. Since your 'friend' left you've been bummed out " He said.

" I'm not bummed out " He said. " You refused to go be a little trouble maker with your friends, when you always are " He rolled his eyes. " Well, so what? It's got nothing to do with her! She's an annoying bully that's all " He rolls his eyes. " You've got a lot to learn young one " Shikaku sighed. " Listen son. I want you to think real hard about why you've been so bummed out lately. And when you've finally got the answer, go and get her " He smiled patting him on the head.

" I won " Shikamaru said. Shikaku looked down at the board. He'd barely been paying attention to the game at all. " Wait! Rematch! I'll win for sure this time! " He said. " So! Your helping your son stay up past curfew huh? " The door slammed open. " Scatter! " Shikaku said. Shikamaru quickly ran back to his room, hearing Shikaku's screams from beyond his door. Oh man, he was definitely in trouble now.

" I didn't have time to think about it that night because I was terrified of what my mom might do " He chuckled. " And I always remember what my dad says. He seems to be an expert about the things I'm having trouble with. It's very convenient if you think about it " He said. " I don't care! Just let go of me you idiot! " She said. " And you know me. I didn't put much thought into it at the time. Like you said. Everything's a drag to me. But this isn't " He said. " What do you mean? What's 'this'? " She asked.

" The fact that the next day after you came back I felt that hole was filled again. The hole I had no explanation for at all, was finally filled. And I felt happy. Completely happy. So what I mean when I say 'this' well... " He said. Her eyes slightly widened at his next motion, he kissed her cheek. Her face flushed red, she did not expect that. " So would you come back home with me now? And also... be my girlfriend or whatever? " His face holding a slight blush.

" Yes, and yes. But we can't go back to the village right now I have to show off " She smiled. " Show off what? " He asked. She grabs his hand. " You! " She grinned and pulled him inside the through the gates of Sunagakure.
