Janet's House

It had been a month since the baby had been born and Toni woke up. Janet and Toni were settling into a routine. Toni was bonding with Journey, sometimes when Janet couldn't get her to calm Toni could. Toni's therapy was coming along too. She was beginning to gain weight and get her strength back. Dr. Keys had discovered that she hadn't suffered any brain damage at all. Now she just needed to get her motor skills back to where they were supposed to be.

Toni was in her thoughts and hadn't noticed that Janet was trying to get her attention. Janet tapped her on her shoulder making Toni jump.

"Jay, you scared me."

"I've been calling your name for the last 30 seconds."

"Oh, I'm sorry I was just thinking."

"Well that's one thing that didn't change. You're still a space cadet sometimes. Oh you have a visitor they're in the living room. I'll be in the nursery feeding Journey if you need me."

"Okay."

Toni made her way to the living room as quickly as she could. She moved slowly because sometimes she lost her balance. She turned the corner to see Kenny.

"Hey Tone."

"Hi Kenny." She all of a sudden became shy around him. She'd heard everything he said to her and it was replaying in her. She sat in the armchair across from him.

"I think we need to talk."

"We do. I have so many questions. I heard everything you said."

"I'm sorry that I left you like that. I was broken and couldn't get over seeing you like that. I thought me leaving was better than me showing up drunk to see you. I'm not making any excuses. I just came to see if you would forgive me."

"I forgave you when you did it. I know why you left but I don't' think I fully understand. There are so many other ways to cope with pain and trauma. You could have just talked to someone. You needed a listening ear and there were so many people you could have spoken to."

"Do you think that we could start again? I know I messed up but I want to make it up to you. Please let me do that. I can show that I can be better."

"I can't answer that right now, Kenny. Give me some time to think."

"I'll give you that. I do still love you. I want you to know that. I still love you, I never stopped loving you."

"Kenny just go please. I need to think."

Kenny left and Toni stayed in the same spot she was in. She hoped that Janet hadn't heard what he said. Toni had a lot to think about. She went to her bedroom and sat in the armchair and put her feet up. It's been a month since she was out the hospital. There were so many questions swimming through her mind it was giving her a headache. She sent Janet a text asking for Tylenol.

"Hey T-T, what's wrong?"

"My head hurts Jay."

"Why don't you lay down instead of sitting up in this chair."

"Okay." She made her way to the bed laying down. "Jay, can you lay with me?"

"Sure, I'll go get the baby monitor and I'll be right back."

Toni was still thinking and she was at a crossroad. She had Janet who would give her the world if she could and Toni loved her but she wasn't sure that she was in love with Janet. Then there was Kenny who she still felt some type of towards. Was what she was feeling love? That was where her brain was. Should she got back to then man she was going to marry or try to make something work with her best friend?
