Celia, Norah, Kohen, and I are all crammed on the Wilmot couch that has been around longer than we have. Teddy is sitting in the love seat with Faith, his on again off again girlfriend. Eddie lay on the floor complaining about how hungry he is. Tate is sitting on the chair being as quiet as a mouse.
Miss Wilmot says we the food isn't ready yet but we all know she's just making us wait until Reeve arrives. None of us want to be, well only Eddie. He's the one who steers the conversation off of her. He'll tolerate her more than anyone else will.
Celia looks up at me and says, "After this, I want to get ice cream."
"We can do that," I whisper and kiss her head.
Kohen hasn't said anything all day. I know that he isn't excited about Reeve's return. The only time he talks about her is when he's saying things his mom would ground him for.
I'm trying not to care that she's back but it's really hard. Things just got good.
Then from the dining room, we hear Miss Wilmot announce, "Kids, food is ready."
Eddie is off the ground before any of us are and is bounding into the dining room where the food is. Everyone else gets up and walks into the dining room beside Norah, Celia, Kohen, and I.
He doesn't get up off the couch, "I can't go in there."
Norah rubs his back but Celia says, "Get up and walk in there. Don't let the little bitch get to you. Even call her one to her face if it helps."
Kohen looks up at her with a smirk, "That's great advice C."
She smirks right back, "I know."
Then Kohen stands up and we all head into the dining room. When we enter there's no sign of Reeve. Miss Wilmot doesn't say anything about her not being there. Eddie complements, the food, "Miss Wilmot you are one of the best cooks ever, same goes for you Miss Stovak."
They both smile and eat up all the compliments they are getting. Miss Wilmot walks out of the dining room without saying anything.
I turn to Celia, "You'll love the garlic bread."
She nods, "You know I love garlic bread."
Kissing her cheek I say, "I know."
Miss Wilmot returns only this time not alone.
We all quiet at the sight of the girl none of us exactly want to be here. She's not looking at any of us though.
Kohen storms out and Norah follows but I can't move.
She dyed her hair blue, purple, and black. She's also a few inches taller. She looks too much like the Reeve who left two years ago. In my mind, I turned her into this ugly monster but that's not who she is at all anymore.
Tearing my eyes away from her I exit the dining room to the living room.
