Everyone left. I didn't get to take Celia out for ice cream.
It's eleven and I'm still at the Wilmot house because my parents wanted to make sure Reeve made it back. Miss Wilmot could just call them to tell them and I don't understand why I have to be here.
A rerun of Friends is on and Kohen and I are sitting on the floor while the three adults occupy the other seats.
Where is Reeve? I would like to go home within the next year.
My dad sighs from his seat and says, "Bella, are you sure you don't want me to go and look for her?"
Miss Wilmot shakes her head, never tearing her eyes away from the show. Kohen scoffs but doesn't say anything.
Speak of the devil and she shall appear, the sound of the front door opening sounds but no one makes a move to get up. We all just share looks.
"Reeve, come in here." Miss Wilmot says.
And so she does.
A colorful haired Reeve stands in the doorway of the living room, her face red and eyes puffy. My heart almost aches for her but then I remember who she is and what she did to everyone and immediately regret feeling that way.
She bites her lip and just stands there holding onto her duffle bag for dear life. Miss Wilmot looks over at her after muting the television. "It's nice to have you back."
Reeve just nods. Then her mother pesters, "Do you have anything to say?"
Reeve looks at Kohen then when she looks at me her eyes are full of hate, I assume mine look the same. She looks at us then back to her mom and says, "No."
Miss Wilmot raises her eyebrows, "You aren't going to apologize to your brother for ruining his clothes? To me for ruining my couch, to our guests for ruining their diner?"
She's stoic when she looks to my parents, "Sorry for ruining your dinner."
"Anything else?"
Reeve shakes her head, "Why apologize if I don't regret doing it? I'd gladly do it too."
I can't help the small chuckle that escapes. Miss Wilmot stands raising her hands and exclaims, "Maybe I need to send you back to therapy. Attacking your brother for no reason. Honestly what happened to you, Reeve?"
Hurt flashed through her eyes but then she shakes it off, "Maybe send your son to therapy, he needs it more than I do. I mean who chooses their fucking friend over their fucking sister. And don't even get me started, I heard the shit things they said while I was here so I don't even want to know what they said behind my back. Your precious little boy who can do no wrong is more fucked up than I am."
Kohen stands up, "How dare you? We all know that you lied because that's what you are a fucking liar. And there is nothing wrong with me."
"Oh come on, I lied. That's what you all say because you don't want to believe me. It's better to believe that I am a liar than to admit that I am right because you are a coward." Reeve yells right back.
"I know the truth, I'm not a coward. You are the coward. You couldn't deal with the fact that no one believed your lies so you ran away, that is the definition of a coward," Kohen yells while walking up to her.
Reeve doesn't back down, "I may be a coward but I am not a liar."
Then she slaps him.
