Mina's POV

I woke up the next day with a sore body, specially down there. I smiled as I remembered what happened yesterday. Everything was surreal. I'm so happy giving my first to Chae.

I went to my bathroom and washed my face. I stared at myself on the mirror after.

"I'm sorry Yeri."

I murmured then a flashback started to play in my head.

---
I just got out from class. I was about to text Chae her whereabouts when someone tapped my shoulder from behind. As I turned around, I saw two familiar faces.

"H-hi Mina-ssi. I know it's sudden, but can we talk to you for a second?"

The one with round eyes is the one who tapped me, if I remember it correctly, her name is Jihyo.

I nodded and moved on the end side of the stairs near us. "Is it fine if we talk it out here?" I asked for their permission. They looked so serious so I guess, we were about to talk serious matter here.

The other girl, Nayeon, just nodded.

"Yeri got into an accident." Jihyo didn't waste time and spilled the beans right away.

"W-what? Where is she? Is she fine?" I asked, sincerely worried.

"She's now fine. She was in coma until yesterday."

"Coma? Since when?"

That's about the time when me and Chae started to be together again.

Jihyo suddenly reached for my hands. "Mina-ssi, can you let her have Chae for awhile?"

I was taken aback for that sudden request. She didn't even beat around the bush.

"I know that you both just got together. But.. but Yeri. Our dear friend. When she got into that accident, she called Chae first before she lost consciousness."

The two of them became teary-eyed. They alternately explained to me why they wanted to borrow Chae from me.

Yeri is suffering from a post-accident trauma. Whenever she wakes up, she always see a flashback of that time she got into that accident. And according to them, a mention of Chae's name calms her first before the doctor's sedative.

"But of course, that was just our hunch. There's no scientific explanation from her doctors. But... but we wanted to do anything we can to help our friend. So please Mina-ssi, consider our request." Jihyo said, pleading me.

I sighed inside before giving them an answer. "Let me think about it."

They both smiled in relief. Nayeon then took something out from her pocket and handed it to me. "Call me if ever you come up with an answer Mina-ssi."

I nodded. Then they left.

I then asked Chae about my situation, saying that I just read it from a book somewhere. She said that it's being selfish. And she's right. But if I refuse. Aren't I being selfish too?

I spent the night thinking what to do then. And then early morning, I dialed Nayeon's number.

I went to the hospital where Yeri's at. She was sleeping when I got there. She's got lot of wounds and injuries. Some of them healed and some aren't.

I waited for 2 hours before Yeri opened her eyes. And her two friends were right. She started yelling and shouting while holding her head down. She covered her ears then I heard her sobbed.

She's scared.

"C-chae..."

That name escaped from her mouth. My eyes started to well up.

Then the door opened with the doctors and nurses rushing up towards Yeri. Behind them is I think her parents. Her mother noticed me on the side.

"Who are you?" She asked frantically.

Well, I was a stranger inside her daughter's room, of course she would be frantic. But luckily, Nayeon came in and introduced me as Yeri's schoolmate.

As Yeri returned to her slumber, I asked to talk with Nayeon outside. She looked uneasy standing there, waiting for my answer.

"I'm sorry about Yeri, Nayeon-ssi." I paused. "But I can't give Chae away like that."

She looked mad and sad at the same time.

"Don't get me wrong. I also wanted to help, but I can't give up someone I love for some stranger. I already did that mistake before, and I spent a year regretting that decision. I don't wanna suffer like that anymore."

"But-"

I cut her off. "I know I'm being selfish here. But don't you think your request is also selfish on my part?"

She fell silent.

"I wish for Yeri's fast recovery. I really am. But don't come to me anymore asking for a favor like this. I would really appreciate it if you do that."

And I left.

----
I know I said that but I feel so bad about my decision. I was being selfish.

But I just can't do it. I feel like I'd lose Chae forever if I agreed to it. And I don't want that to happen. It'll kill me.

I finished washing up and went downstairs. My parents are already gone for work. Well, that's to be expected since I woke up late.

I checked my phone and saw a morning message from Chae. I smiled and typed a reply.

She doesn't have a class today while I have one later this afternoon. I invited her to come over but she wanted me to go to their house instead. She said she bought ingredients and wanted to cook something for me.

She's on her way home already.

I was so happy that I started preparing right away. It took me a while to prepare. I need to look pretty and presentable in front of her family.

When I finally got contented with the result of my preparation, I grabbed the keys from the drawer and drove to her place excitedly.

I was almost there when I saw a huge crowd in front of there house.

My heart suddenly beats so fast as I saw those red lights on top of those cars parked outside.

I quickly hopped out of my car and went inside their house.

Inside, I saw her mother crying on her father's shoulder while her sister is sitted on the couch, crying as well.

"W-what's wrong? W-what's happening? Where's Chae?" I managed to talk and ask. I looked around the house but couldn't see her. I was about to go upstairs towards her room when her sister threw the bomb on me.

"You can't find her here Unnie. Not anywhere. Because my Chae-unnie is gone. She's dead."
