Chapter 36

"I don't understand."

That's the very first thing she said after her long silence when I told her the truth.

"What brother? And after my life? Why?"

She threw those questions one after another and I understand how confused she is now. I took my time to think if I should tell her everything right now or wait for her memories to come back. 

"Everything went out of hand now, it's your call if you should tell Chae everything or not. I protected her for 5 years Mina, it's now your turn." That was what Yeri told me yesterday when we talked over the phone. 

Tzuyu managed to get enough evidences to send her father behind bars. She was planning to talk it out with her father first, make him surrender for his own good. But she didn't saw his father's stubbornness coming. Instead of surrendering, he exchanged fires with the police which got Tzuyu shot. 

But before she lost her consciousness, she managed to dial my number to warn me and Chae.  Gladly, Tzuyu wasn't in critical condition and the rest of the gang is there to look after her, Sana and their son. They also insisted on helping us, but I refused. I don't wanna involve them further with this. And I am also sure that Tzuyu's father already had an eye on them. They'll just be in danger if they would still be in contact with us. 

I stared at Chae. My heart stings thinking that she is suffering like this because of the greediness and selfishness of her own flesh.

"Mina!" She called out in desperation.

I let out a heavy sigh and held her hand. "I do not know how to say this to you Soo-ah. I don't even know where to start." 

It's true. I do not know how can I tell her about her relationship with Tzuyu's father without even telling her about her true identity. That she is Chae. That she is not who she think she is.

"I know that my name isn't really Park Hyung Soo." 

My eyes widened in surprise when she suddenly said that. She stared at me and continued. 

"I am that "Chaeyoung", right? Your lover?" She asked directly. 

I blinked several times, trying to process this sudden turn of events. She knew? How? And why didn't she tell me?

"I already had an idea the first time we met. You called me that name. And for some reason, I felt like it's mine. It's my name. My real identity. But I was told to deny anyone who claims to know me. Yerim told me that, after I woke up from that accident I was into. She recommend to do it for my own good. She said that what happened to me isn't a simple accident. That someone out there is trying to kill me, and that she is just protecting me from them."

I nodded. Yeri told us already about that part. But not the part in which Chae knew that someone's after her life.

"I have an amnesia. I don't remember who you are or who I am. But hearing you calling me that name, is like having the very last piece to my jigsaw puzzle. It fits. So now tell me Mina, I am that Chaeyoung right? Son Chaeyoung?"

Without noticing, my cheeks are already wet with the tears pooling out from my eyes. Chae still doesn't remember anything, but hearing her say that she is Chaeyoung, makes me cry in happiness.

I nodded slowly to answer her question.

She looked away and touched her head. She's in pain. 

I got worried and reached for head as well. "S-soo-ah? What's wrong? Does it hurt?" I asked.

She shook her head slightly. She then held my hand and removed it gently from her. "I-it's okay. I-i'm okay. I just had a light headache suddenly."

She looked back at me. "Tell me everything please" She said, looking so determined to know.

I nodded and invited her back inside our room. We both sat on the bed and there, I told her everything I knew.

Chae isn't really the real daughter of her parents. She's actually an heiress to the one of the biggest Corporation Company in our Country, the TC Groups and Co., in which Tzuyu's father, Chou Yicheng is the current CEO. 

Mr. Chou isn't supposed to be the inheritor of that company, it is Chae. But due to his greed with money and power, he did an evil act back when Chae was still a year old.

Third Person's POV

"Happy 1st Birthday our dear Yoojung!"

The entire household was celebrating the first birthday of Chou Yoojung, the daughter of the current CEO of the TC Groups and Co., she is also declared to be the sole heiress of the Chairman, her grandfather.

But even with the happy atmosphere, a pair of envy eyes from the side glared at the innocent heiress.

"I worked my ass off for 5 years, and then that kid will have everything without lifting a finger? That's bullshit!" 

That's what's in the mind of the 23 year old Chou Yicheng. Her wife, smiling while carrying their 9 months old daughter, is oblivious with her husband's fast growing envy.

Chou Yicheng is a son born out of wedlock. His mother had him when she was still fifteen years old. Scarred and abandoned, her mother and him suffered a great deal of hardship while getting the ends meet everyday. 

When he was already 16 years old, his mother; who's a gardener in a rich household that owns a number of company, got noticed by the Chairman's son. They had a relationship and they were both in love.

The teenager, who dreamed to have a comfortable life for himself and for his mother, got a ray of hope. He wished nothing but to be part of that family. 

And he did. 

His mother and that man got married when he's 17 years old. The man sent him to school for a year already. And as smart as he is, he finished it in that short span of time and had his High School Diploma.

He was never sent to college after. Instead, he was sent to work on the company right away. He started from the bottom of the hierarchy, a Janitor.

He never whined. He accepted it. Because he knew that his step father is doing this to train him. To make him the heir of everything he owns and to be owned. He was loved dearly by his father. But not the grandpa.

He's always so stern and always bluntly saying openly on not giving his company to a stranger. And that's him.

But he was patient. He took it all in. Criticisms, insults and disapproval. Because he was confident, confident that at the end, he will still have it all. And that's because his stepfather is impotent, he can't have an heir with his own flesh and blood.

That's what he thought! Because an heiress appeared and his hard work for five years was sent all to drain.

"This can't be! This unacceptable!" He glared at the innocent child smiling while enjoying the attention given to her. 

"I won't let that kid have everything that I worked hard for! Never!"

He said to himself before leaving the house and called his trusted driver. 

"My hands will get dirtied for now, but I still have the last laugh. This is for my daughter. And for me."  He thought while sending the little Chou Yoojung to his driver and have the child killed.
