I was 16 and she was 12. I thought that it was the similarity between her and Niall that made me want to be her friend. I knew it was more than that when I was 18.

Josephine would care for her 'friends' even though they would make her feel bad about herself and spread rumours about her. They called her the "untalented" one in her family. I knew it wasn't true.

I told Josie to leave them but she looked me in the eye and told me she had known them since third grade. I didn't understand until I realized they were all she had left from her childhood. Josie had to grow up too quick and her parents had jobs that had them working until she was asleep.

One day she came to my house with a wet sketchbook that was always stuck to her hand. She loved drawing and was incredibly good at it. I noticed Liam was a bit quiet until he muttered something rude under his breath only so I could hear. I didn't understand and then he loudly explained to me. I told Josephine to leave when I heard that she hurt my family friend. I was looking for excuses to get my feelings out of the way and Liam put a perfect one in my hands. I told her to leave right away.

We should have dealt with the problem better. Liam and I were focused on the moment instead of the situation.

Because of me, I allowed Josie to have another reason to hate herself. I'm sorry Josephine.
