Stepping out of the car, I felt my legs shake as I took the first steps in my new life. No more Harry, no more Liam and Zayn. I would trust myself, and only myself. I wouldn't surround myself in betrayal and I wouldn't let myself tolerate liars and untrustworthy friends.  Would I even have friends?

We sat down back on the bench, my eyes on the clock tower, seeing that I would have gone home on the bus by now. I focused on the little girl running around in front of me. She ran into the wooden ship playground part of the park.

I closed my eyes and memories flooded in before I could prevent an image from forming.

"Quickly, into the ship!" I said as Niall and I ran into the giant wooden ship in the park.

"The sharks will hurt you! Hurry," yelled Niall. I ran into the ship after him but not before tripping on the threshold below the plastic door. I bursted into tears as blood trickled down my knee.

"It hurts," I whispered to Niall.

"I can save you!" Niall screamed out like a superhero. He ran out of the ship for a couple minutes before running back with our babysitter and some bandages.

"Thank you Kira," I mumbled to our babysitter. I smiled and turned to my brother. "Thanks Niall. "

"I'll always be here for you Josie," Niall began. "I'm your older brother!"

"By five minutes!"

We both giggled and dusted dirt off ourselves. My twin brother smiled proudly as I stood up and wiped my tears away. Kira and Niall clapped when I put my hands on my waist, proving to them that no scrapes could stop me from being strong.

I knew I was being watched when I realized that the little girl had gone home with her family while I had been staring into an empty ship.

"Are you feeling alright? Do you want me to get you water?" Louis finally spoke.

"Perfectly fine," I lied.

I was only seven years old. I trusted everything I saw and was told, even fooling myself into thinking that I could be strong. I thought I didn't need someone to depend on.

My eyes watered and I felt sick. My stomach dropped and I just wanted to melt into the ground. I just wanted to go home.
