I traced the lines of his tattoos with my finger as I admired his look. His black hair floppy and the feel of his hand holding mine made me think of his past, my way, and his actual life.
(Present Time)
"You're so dumb." I heard my brother laugh at my dad as we sat in the airport waiting for my step-mom. I was zoning out most of the time as I had my headphones in and didn't really care to pay attention as I was forced to wait there.
"(Y/n)." I quickly turned my head to look at my dad. A small beard coated his face, but his smile still showed through. " Are you okay?" His sympathetic look made me curl a small smile on my lips so he didn't have to start worrying about me.
"Yeah, I'm good. When's Katie coming?" I asked as the thought of a new mom, a new life, and a new personality was being added to the family I already had.
"In a couple of minutes." He looked back up at the escalator and smiled back at Finn. My younger brother with beach blonde hair as mine was (y/h/c). He was excited for Katie to come only because she had a dog named Hank. Finn had met Hank the first time when my dad and him went to California to visit her. I was busy with finals for senior year. It was summer time, so she said she would come to us this time.
She stepped down from the escalator with her long black hair and smiled as she saw my dad. "(Y/d/n)!" As they grew closer, she hugged him and kissed his cheek. The cheek my mom used to kiss before she met Luke.
"Hank!" Finn said running over to the doberman that followed behind her.
I watched as they smiled and when dad pulled away from their hug, he turned to me and smiled, "Katie, this is my daughter (Y/n)."
She had bright blue eyes. Everything about her was perfect, she smiled at me and pulled me in for a hug, "Hi my name is Katie. I'm so glad we are getting to meet each other." That smile. So bright, so quirky, so not mom.
"Hi, nice to meet you too." A small smile was on my face to make my father happy.
"She's so beautiful, (Y/d/n)." She said as she took my dad's hand in her's and they both started to walk to the luggage area. Finn walked beside me and sighed, "He's happy, I'm glad."
"Yeah, he is." I looked down at him and saw the smile plastered on his face as he looked at our father. It made me grunt as I saw how mature my brother was being while I was acting like a little kid. Maybe I was still mad that mom left us for a younger man who was only ten years older than me. And as an eighteen year old, I didn't want someone who could be my teacher dating my mom. But too bad for me, they ended up married and we weren't invited to the wedding.
I kept looking at Katie, she was practically a model and I felt tears well up in my eyes as I wished that my dad had met her a long time ago and not five years later after the divorce. She smiled constantly and the dog, Hank, seemed to smile too as he saw Finn around him. The only person that didn't have a real smile on their face was me, but I wanted one so bad as I got jealous of their happiness.

"Very beautiful (y/d/n)." Katie said as she saw the bouquet of flowers my dad had saved for her. "Thank you."
I sat on the sofa and felt Hank put his head on my leg, "Hey." I patted his head and went back on my phone.
"(Y/n), you have to actually play with him or he'll get bored." Finn said whining at me.
"Why don't you just play with him? I'm busy."
"You don't have any friends that care about you, stop lying." He said as he sat down next to the dog. I looked at my dad who was giving googly eyes to the lady in front of him. He wouldn't defend me, he was distracted.
"I'm going upstairs." I got up from the sofa and walked to my room. I laid on the bed and remembered what Finn had said. You don't have any friends that care about you. I mean he wasn't lying, but I didn't want to hear it anymore. It wasn't my fault people started talking about me because of my mom's stunt. With that and with what happened with Connor, no one bothered to talk to me because they thought I would cry or I was crazy like the lady I would call mom.
I opened my computer and saw a message pop up, "Warzone?" Caleb texted me. A boy I met on a discord chat for Aaron and Jo.
"Sorry, super tired." I texted back. Discord, a magical place where you find people who don't live near you, but are better friends than the ones you have at home. Caleb was the best person I met on there and with our connection of watching the same low-key Youtubers, we always kept in contact.
I looked over at the gaming desktop I had in the corner of my room. The amount of money mom put into it after the divorce was large, but it couldn't bring her brain back to earth, so what kind of affect did it have?
Looking at the photos on the wall of Connor and I made me smile and I felt my heart beat faster as I remembered our life before he left. My best friend left to be with someone we prayed to as young kids and left me behind in a world with idiots and step moms.
