"Did you open that?" I asked Finn as we walked around the store. A bag of chips was in his hands as he grabbed the food from inside and ate it. He always did this and I always had to pay for it.
"Here." I handed him ten bucks from my pocket, "Get something to drink and then pay for it. Hurry up." He smiled at me and snatched the bill out of my hand. I sighed as I saw my younger brother walk away. A tap on my shoulder made me snap out of my thoughts, I looked to my side and saw Katie standing there.
"Here." She held a ten dollar bill and I instantly declined.
"No no, I'm fine. He's my brother, I have to take care of him." I smiled and her cheeks lightly flushed."Sorry, I just thought you might want him to reimburse you later." She said with a small laugh.
"No it's alright." I stood there silently and just looked at the other items on the shelf. After a little while, she spoke up. "So I spoke with your dad..."
"Okay."
"Well he wanted us to go to Time Square and hang out."
"Oh."
"Yeah since I'm here in New York with you guys and it might be nice to see something I've never seen before." She smiled wide and I knew I was being too hard on the lady that was trying to make a good impression with me.
"Yeah that would be fine, are we going today?"
"Yeah, right after this."
I looked down at my outfit and nodded my head, "okay."<
"(Y/n), these shoes are so cool!" I looked over at my brother who was looking at the Yeezy Boost 700.
"I guess my brother has no taste at all in shoes and what—" I looked under the shoe for the price and looked at Finn with a disappointing face, " Five hundred sixty five dollars? I doubt dad will even buy you that.""He isn't, Katie said she would."
Oh so Katie is big with the money."Oh." I looked at the Off White - UNCs that I had wanted for the longest time. I had been saving for them since junior year but I had been three hundred dollars short and gave up. I still have the money just resting in my account.
"Get them." I looked to my side and Katie stood there with her usual smile."No Katie, you can make my brother happy with materialistic stuff, but I don't want to waste your money." I waved my hands to indicate a "no". "You're great to my dad. That's all I need."
"Okay, are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Alright, but if you still want it then just tell me before we leave."
I smiled and she walked off linking arms with my dad.
"You know you want the shoes." I heard Finn say as I still stared at the shoes.
"Yeah, but that's Katie's money. I can't take that.""Suit yourself, I just got two pairs of Yeezys and one pair of Air Jordan 1's."
"And I bet you didn't even have to beg dad, huh?"
"Nope, because they both got matching Air Forces."
I looked over at my dad and saw him and Katie fighting each with smiles of who was going to pay for the shoes. Katie eventually won as she slid her card into the slot and waited smiling at my dad. She pecked a kiss on his lips and my dad looked happy.I didn't understand why she was trying to buy us stuff. I didn't know if she wanted to buy over our love or if she was just actually nice. I didn't know because I hadn't seen how a mother should act for five years.
I looked back at the shoes and sighed, "Maybe next time."
"Or you could just get them now."
I turned my head as I heard a deeper voice, definitely not Finn's, and saw a guy standing next to me."What?" I asked.
He turned his head to look at me. His eyes were greenish blue, hair was black, and blue lines of tattoos went down his arm. " I was just saying why don't you get them now."
"Uh, I don't know." I smiled and started to walk away to my dad and Katie.
"(Y/n), where's Finn?" I looked around the store as my dad asked and saw Finn talking to a random guy. I walked over and saw the guy from before, he was showing Finn some new shoes that were going to come out."C'mon Finn, we gotta go." I grabbed his hand and he tugged back.
"Hold on, I'm talking to him."
I looked up at the other guy and saw him looking at me. He was an attractive guy the more I looked at him, but I seriously needed Finn to cooperate with me. "Finn, say bye."He huffed and puffed and waved bye. I stared as my brother ran over to my dad and Katie.
"Thanks for being nice. He likes hanging out with older people, it's hard for him in school to make friends his age." I grabbed a five dollar bill out of my pocket and handed it to him.
"Woah, what are you doing?" He asked as a smile appeared on his face.
"I'm giving it to you."
"No, it's fine. I don't do it for money, I was just being kind."
I nodded my head and put it back in my pocket."I'm Jaden." He put his hand out for me to shake it.
"I'm (Y/n)." I shook his hand and smiled at him. "Well I better go, but thanks anyway for being nice."
"Wait." He got out his phone and opened it to the contacts. As he pressed the plus button, I stepped back. "Let's stay in touch, maybe your brother and I can play COD together?"
I accepted it for Finn and put my number down on the phone, "okay, I'll give your number to him when he gets a phone." I said laughing at the thought of this guy waiting for a couple years before Finn gets a phone.
"Well I mean not just for him, you can text me too or I'll text you. Whatever is fine, but I'm just saying you can keep it, if you want." He got nervous midway through which made me laugh.
"Okay, I will." His cheeks flushed as I gave his phone back.
"(Y/n)!" I turned around and saw my dad calling me. "Let's go, say goodbye to your boyfriend." I looked at him with wide eyes as he and Finn started to laugh.
"Well I'll see you around Jaden."
"Yeah definitely."
