"Do you think that you could maybe give me your son's phone number?" The middle aged Hispanic woman looked at me weirdly. I understood what she was thinking. "Yeah, I'm gay. It's 2020 let's just move one with it."

Lying to her wasn't the best option but it was the only option at that moment.
"My son isn't into guys, he's into girls. Maybe you know his ex girlfriend (Y/n), very sweet girl. I don't know what happened though, but if you see her around tell her that our families should eat dinner together some time." She started to shut the door but I put my hand out.

"Wait! Look, I'm not gay. But I need your sons number for something."

She looked at me closely clearly thinking again, she turned around and started yelling, "MARIO! TYLER'S DOING THE DRUGS AGAIN."

"No ma'am, I'm not a drug dealer." I said as I waved my hands indicating that she was wrong.

"That's what they all say mijo, now here." She handed me a piece of paper and sighed, "Here's his number and you come back to tell me if he joined a frat house. He's a stupid kid like that." She patted my shoulder and then closed the door immediately. I heard yelling coming from the house and decided to just walk away.

Walking back to the (Y/n)'s house, I pulled out my phone and dialed the number. A few rings came through the phone, until I heard a voice speak up.

"Hello?"

"Hey."

"Who's this?"

"My name is Jaden and I was wondering if you could help me out." A long pause was there until he spoke up.

"No, I know Finn sent you. I can't deal with that family anymore. Sorry man."

"Wait, look just help me out I'm just trying to fix what's going on with her. You know her well, just help me out."

"I need to unpack, I just got here to college. A new start, new people." He sighed, "I can't look back on high school anymore, please understand that." He hung up instantly.

"Okay then." I mumbled as I started walking back to her house.

(Y/n's POV)

"Where were you?" I asked as Jaden walked through the front door .

"I needed to get some air, but now I'm ready to take you out." He grabbed my hand and I looked at him not moving. "Cmon, let's go."
I was suspicious, but I didn't want to say anything, I just wanted to hang out with him. "Okay, let me go put on some shoes."

He smiled at me and then sat next to Finn. I walked up to my room and grabbed my air forces. He was acting weird, a weird because of a secret hidden. Maybe a couple more things, maybe Finn will tell me if he knows anything, but for right now all I wanted to do was hang out with the boy I had met at the shoe store.

I walked down the stairs and saw Jaden waiting for me, "Ready?"

"Yeah." We both walked out the door as Finn waved goodbye. We started to walk over to the car as Katie and my dad walked beside us.

"Where are you going?" He asked me as he stared at Jaden and I.

Jaden spoke up and smiled at my dad. He was becoming closer with him as they shared a passion for music. My dad hadn't had a buddy like that since Connor and it was nice to see my dad talk to someone about the one thing he loved beside Katie. "We're going to look around downtown."

"Alright, when are you both coming home?" Katie nudged him and winked at us, "Have fun." She said as she dragged him beside her.

"No swapping spit." My dad yelled as he opened the door to the house for Katie.

"There will definitely be none of that sir." Jaden laughed as he got into the car and I did too. He turned on the car and held my hand, "So downtown or what?"

I shrugged, "Maybe somewhere more low-key."

"Jaden."

"Yeah."

"What were your first thoughts of me when we met?" I asked as the prickly grass poked my skin. I laid beside him, turning my body so that I could focus on him and his features.

"I thought of a song." He turned to look at me too and smiled. "It's an old song. One that was used fro my parent's wedding. It was in The Little Rascals. When Alfalfa started to sing to Darla and they were in a small boat. She had an umbrella in hand while he sang." He put his hand on my cheek while remembered the scene of the older movie I saw when I was younger. "You are so beautiful, that was the song." He paused and looked at me again, "I thought you were insanely beautiful."

My cheeks flushed of the words coming out of his mouth. Warmer and warmer they got as he looked at me. My gaze shifted to his lips and then back to his eyes, the green eyes that I would've fallen for all over again if I met him earlier. "What did you think of me?" He asked.

"I thought that you didn't know what you were doing." He started to laugh as I said my statement and I felt my heart strings being tug on as his smile appeared. "Maybe because it seemed like you were in the wrong store for a guy wearing high top converse."

He looked up at the sky and smiled, "I thought I was wearing Air Forces."

"I thought they were Converse."

"Because you were wearing these baggy jeans and this concert tshirt. Your shoes were white, I believe they were those." He pointed to my shoes and I smiled.

"Seems like you pay attention a lot."

"I always do." He hugged me close to him and I felt the warmth of his body against mine. His heart was beating at a normal rate as I listened.

It was silent. The sound of the trees rustling against each other filled our thoughts as he continued to look down at me and I was focusing on the environment around me. He pulled away slowly and breathed out, "I'm glad we met (Y/n)."

"Yeah. me too." I held onto his hand as he smiled again. I leaned over and laid on his chest, I propped myself up and smiled at him, "Maybe we should go do something?"

"I like it here." He smiled and quickly flipped me over which made me laugh.

"What are you doing?" I asked playfully as he started to draw circles on my cheeks with his thumb.

"Nothing, just looking." His gaze fixed on my lips and then my eyes, but I knew he was hesistant about it all.

"Aww, is Jaden nervous?" I placed my hand on his cheek and he smiled. "No." He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Then just do it then."

"Do what?" He was acting dumb, clearly wanting me to be the one who does the first move. I leaned in close to him and he looked down at my lips while slowly inching toward me. He took long, he was too much of a wimp, so I just leaned in to connect us together. His lips touching mine as he grabbed onto my waist and started to move our lips in sync with each other. With the breeze passing by us, I could feel the goose bumps I already had from him, begin to become more obvious. He continued to move his hand down my body and I smiled into another kiss as I pulled away, "Seems like you lied to my dad." I said as I pecked his lips again.

"No, you leaned in, that's not on me." He pecked my lips again and hugged me close to him. He started to move so that I was now on top of him and I felt his hand now trail down my hair. I smiled as I stared at him and started to think about the connection between us and maybe how it will last for a really long time.
