The battle part 3

Gabrielle's Mom- POV

Disaster adverted. I could see it in Gabrielle's eyes. She was serious. She would walk out that door and we wouldn't get another chance to even talk to her until she decided she would let us. I haven't seen that in a long time but I know my daughter.

She is not going to change her mind. It's just like when she was younger but worse. She is an adult now. She can decided to do what she wants and there really is nothing we can do to stop her. She made her decision and believes it's right no matter what anyone else says This isn't the Gabrielle from a year ago. The Gabrielle that was feeling weak and lost and needing help in making the right decisions. This is the Gabrielle we expected when we were raising her.

Where does the time go?

My husband can be an idiot. I love him, but he really can be stupidly blind when it comes to our family. How did he not realize that the 'my way, no questions' was not going to work?

How do I get him to listen?

Part of me does agree with him. I believe that the last two years showed that Gabrielle and Jack do not belong together. They would be better off with other people.

Do I really? Deep down? Yeah I saw wh.... Or was I upset about the state of their relationship at the end? Was I too quick to see my husbands point? Too quick agree with Madalyn that they weren't right for each other anymore and couldn't fix their issues because Jack had changed to so much?

Did I decide that I would help break them apart rather then help my daughter fix her mistakes? Did I really focus so much on Jack's mistakes that I ignored Gabrielle's? When I heard Jack's mean snaps did I ignore Gabrielle's? Maybe I was to fas....

Well that is the past. We have to deal with the here and now. First step. Cassie knows something. I could see it. She was not surprised to see Jack come here with Gabrielle. What has she been hiding from us.

"Cassie, do you have something the share with about your sister and Jack?"

"Ummm, well you see, ummm"

"Wait a minute Cassie. Let me get Madalyn down here so we can decided how we are going to fix this as a family. We need to all be on the same page if we are going to show Gabrielle she is making a mistake."

"Dad, I don't ag..."

"Madalyn! ... MADALYN! Take off those headphones and come down here. We have a family problem!"

Ouch. My husband does have a very loud voice sometimes. I could have done without that. I already have a headache coming on.

"What's up Dad? What's wrong?"

"Did you know?"

"Know what Dad?"

"About your sister and him? Did you know?"

"I am confused. You said Gabrielle was bring her new boyfr..."

"About Jack. Did you know your sister was back with Jack?"

"Whaaaa. No you have to be wrong. She would never...."

I can see it on Cassie's face clearly. She knew. She knew and is ok with it? She looks happy about it. When did this happen? Why are our daughters hiding things like this from us?

"Cassie, when did you find out about Gabrielle and Jack?"

Wow she didn't wilt. Everyone is now staring directly at her and she is standing there proud. At least I can be happy about that. We raised another daughter that doesn't backdown.
