9. Blood-starved
Jack stood inches from the shore. The water was black and murky and the exit lay just beyond it. He took a deep breath as be stepped into the water. It was cold and sent a shiver down his spine. He waded deeper in and got up to his waist when he felt them. Something small latched onto his leg. He looked back at the shore and realised it was better to simply cross the rest of the way. He began to move faster as he felt another and another bite him. He began to panic and more and more latched on. He lifted his arm to see them completely covered in leeches. He could feel them quickly begin to drain him. He waded fasted and fasted as his strength was rapidly drained from him. The moment his feet could no longer touch the bottom he hadn't the strength to go on. His body grew limp as he felt what little strength he had left leave his body.
