I listened to the rain outside, wishing I was cuddled next to my son at home but sadly, I was still at work at eight PM. He allowed me to leave for two hours so in that time I was with my son and told him I wouldn't be home tonight. I'm the worse mother ever, that's what I feel like because I gave into work when I should have demanded I go home. But this is work, and sometimes you have to make sacrifices. My bank account is rising and maybe Declan and I can have a vacation after this.

When the door of my office opened I wasn't surprised that it was Kolson. We were the only ones here beside the security guard downstairs. "How's it going? Don't you think it's better if we work in the same office instead of emailing questions and documents all the time?" He blurted out as if he practiced it. "No. Don't make this happen again, leave," I flatly said, my fingers typing away on the rose gold keyboard.

Did I regret smashing my keyboard? No. Why? Because I got a rose gold one. Sponsored by Kolson of course. I guess he did remember my favorite color after all. "Oh come on. Stop being stubborn!" He whined and dragged the spare chair in my office towards the table and flopped down on it against my wishes.

"You told me I have to work overtime. So I'm working overtime. I'm doing everything you ask. And all I ask is that you leave me the fuck alone. Why is that so hard!?" I snapped, making his eyes widen at my outburst. "You're becoming much more talkative," he mumbled, his eyes trained on my lips and I automatically ran my tongue over him. His eyes darkened slightly and my insides twisted.

No. Not again.

"Why do you want me to stay away from you. Why is it a problem if we become friends so we can work better?" He questioned. "You know exactly what happened last time we tried to be friends," I hissed. He got me pregnant and left without even realizing it. "We fell in love. Big deal. You have that boy toy and I have Nessara," he mumbled and began to work on some papers. "I don't have Alton. Drop it," I begged and angrily went back to my work but his presence was so distracting.

"You do realize we keep fighting and fighting right? Why can't we be in a good place?" He groaned. "Because when you leave someone after giving them so much hope unexpectedly wrecks you! Without an explanation, without warning, you broke me. Promised that you'd stay out of my life next time and you broke that promise as well," I bluntly said. His eyes softened in guilt and he refused to look at me.
