Hello!! So quick story heheh.
Five minutes after I fell asleep, I dreamt that a past friend of mine screamed at me "YOU FORGOT HE CHEATED" And when I woke I was confused but within a minute I realized that I forgot Kolson said he cheated in the epilogue of Treasure.
So I had to write over the letter Kolson wrote. For my current readers, if you want since I added more things you can read back the letter but yah, that's it.
Enjoy this chapter! Because I certainly do:)
I had to do it.
I thought I could finish the meeting in time to pick Declan up from school since I had another day off but I realized that I can't. These people like to drag the meeting and I can't do anything about it since it's an important meeting.
I hesitated for minutes but finally pressed the call button. For dreading seconds, she didn't pick up but eventually, she did. "Hey, Chels. I- I'm so sorry to disturb you and I know you guys said that it's not a problem but I still feel bad. This meeting to finalize the opening of the hotel is going to take a while and I'm not sure I'll get there in time to pick up Declan from school," I rambled off, freely tugging my hair because I hated being so needy for their help. But sometimes, no matter how much I try, I still need them to help me. Hopefully, not for long.
This month I'll be leaving Shaw Creations and I'll have more time for Declan. "Of course, it's no problem. We'll pick him up and drop him off at the penthouse alright? You have nothing to worry about," she tried to assure me but it didn't work that well, I felt so bad. "Yes thank you. I'll see you soon," I stated before we said our goodbyes and ended the call.
I walked back into my office, flashes of Kolson sitting on the chair hit me hard from when I revealed I was the owner. Try not to think about him, Qatsiyah. "Where were we?" I sat down on my chair, opposite the bald man and his assistant with a plastered fake smile on my face.

The first thing I did when I got back to my apartment was that I threw on a very oversized hoodie without any pants and let my long brown hair out from the tight ponytail. Right on time, the doorbell rang and I quickly walked to the door to let Quinton and Declan in. "Thank you so much for-" I blurted out while opening the door. My words died hard when I didn't see Quinton. Instead, I saw a smiling Kolson Starvi.
I had to blink twice to make sure it was him standing in front of me while holding Declan's smaller hand in his. "W-What are you doing here?" I stuttered. Declan ran to me and wrapped his arms around my leg. I gulped hard, my heart trashing around in my chest. "I stopped by the apartment and Chelsea asked me to get Declan from school and bring him here since they're going on a date," he revealed. This was surprising since today isn't date night. Their excuse was clever and believable though.
"Why would you agree to that? That's very inconvenient for you," I pointed out. "No. I was coming here because I was meeting the decorators today," he mumbled, looking down at Declan and his smile widened. "He's adorable and loves you very much," he added and the strings of my heart tugged. "W-What did he say?" I stuttered and went into panic mode that he revealed something he wasn't supposed to.
"Hmm, nothing much no worries. Now um...how are you?" He asked nervously. The letter. He loves me. He didn't cheat. Nessara was a distraction. "Kolson I think it's best if we try to maintain a working relationship and move on from the past. I forgive you for whatever and um, you're engaged so I think it's best if we forget about whatever feelings you developed," I let out.
His eyes softened and he avoid8ed my eyes, keeping his on his son. "Sage and um Nessara," he muttered softer in a whisper. He cleared his throat and looked at me dead in the eyes," Nessara and I are done as of yesterday. I caught her cheating on me with Sage, your ex-roommate I guess," he revealed and I couldn't process his words properly.
Sage? I didn't know she was into girls. She never said anything and she convinced us that she was straight. I mean, it's not a problem, it's just shocking because we didn't know before. "Are you sure? She acted like she was into you when you stopped by," I mumbled, remembering that she was disappointed when I told her he was engaged. He nods his head and remained quiet. "Well...I'm sorry to hear that but I have a busy evening. Thank you for dropping him off and good luck with the decorators," I changed the subject.
Kolson parted his lips to say something when Declan beat him to it. "No! He promised I can show him my Lego blocks!" Declan objected and he tugged Kolson's hand so he could stumble inside the room. "Declan, I don't think he has time for that right now, maybe he can come back tomorrow," I lied. He frowned his eyebrows and lips, puckering out his bottom lip adorably.
"I...How can you say no to that face? I did promise so I guess I can spare a couple of minutes...If that's okay with you," he said the last part towards me. I really wanted to decline and demand that he leaves before we risk too much information. But as he said, it was hard to say no to that face. "Fine," I sighed. Delcan cheered and wasted no time pulling Kolson to the open living room where his Lego blocks were on the mat between the tv and sofa.
He lied.
An hour past and Kolson was still sitting on the fluffy mat with our son. Delcan made it his mission to show Kolson every piece of toy he had, even the barbie dolls he was obsessed with at one point in time. Kolson didn't get bored or annoyed, he had a stupid grin on his face with his bright ocean eyes looking at Declan as if nothing else mattered. All he did was make Declan laugh and smile. Why couldn't Declan hate him? That would have been much better. Kolson said he doesn't like kids but that was definitely a lie.
Guilt.
I felt beyond guilty seeing how good he was with Declan and seeing how much Declan adores him. It pained me to see it. I sat on the furthest sofa so when the tears burned the corner of my eyes I didn't have to worry. There was no reason not to tell Kolson. He had to know, if I tell him how it would ruin the moment but I have to.
I believe him.
When he wrote in his letter that he didn't cheat five years ago, I believed him because deep down I knew it was something impossible and his love was too powerful to be fake. Now I'm in an even worse position because Kolson is perfect and I messed up big time.
I'm so screwed.
