A little Kagehina moment bc y not >w<
The sun streamed warmly on the black-haired boy's face, highlighting his high cheekbones and brightening the blue jumper he was wearing, he stood tall and closed his eyes, bathing in the sun's rays. Today, the park was a little less crowded but the young man didn't mind.
He was on a jog with his boyfriend; although openly saying those words tended to make him feel a bit flustered.
Kageyama Tobio was a professional volleyball player on the same team as Hinata Shoyo; his boyfriend. They had started dating in the second year of their high school and honestly, no one was more surprised about this than those two.
It just.... Made things easier for them.
"Oi, Shoyo," he called out behind him, where the orange head jogged drowsily, a look of utter exhaustion on his face and his tangerine cowlicks sticking to his face. Kageyama watched him as he jogged to a stop in front of him, his hands on his knees and breathing rapidly.
"You-" Hinata gasped, "You win- this time." The shorter male raked his hair back, "But only barely!"
Kageyama grinned instantly, "Yup kabochan, five metres is definitely barely." He smiled affectionately, calling Hinata by his desirable nickname; pumpkin.
"Don't call me that..." the pumpkin haired boy pouted and looked away, before his face could show any hint of disquiet. It wasn't often that Tobio smiled, but when he did, oh lord, it was enough to make Hinata's day.
"Sure you do, or would you rather I go back to Mikan?"
Tobio punctuated with a smirk and burst into giggles when the younger boy flung himself at him, determined to make him stoop down to his level.
"I'm not that orange, Tobiuo." The word for "flying fish" was thrown in and the both of them ended up in hysterical laughter, down on the soft, green grass.
Hinata's eyes shined impeccably, honey swirls winked and lit his face up every time he smiled, and Tobio was more than satisfied knowing that he was the one that made him smile that way.
A couple of joggers passed by and they immediately broke eye contact.
Being an athlete came with a lot of pressure; the effort put into meeting people's expectations, the need to always look impressive and stable, sometimes even to an extent to show proof of kindness to fans; never do anything unexpected.
And for the two of them, their relationship was told not to make public, for such things were never always accepted.
It broke their hearts a little, having to restrain any sign of affection when in the outside air, the only time they could unwind was at home, and sometimes it was barely enough.
"Tobio," said Hinata, glancing at him, his body leaning over and his eyes were at Tobio, which glistened magically.
Kageyama had no reason to squint when he was looking at his sun; he stared for as long as his eyes could endure. "Call me that if you want."
"Kabochan?"
"Mhm." He hummed and looked down, playing with the grass blades with a childish smile on his face, Tobio took it all in.
