Also, timeskip?:

Bokkun? Bokkun.

"You're kidding."

"Bro, that's insane!"

Akaashi and Bokuto looked at each other after making their comments simultaneously.

Oikawa looked at the couple in front of him, the owl-looking male held the world's affection in his eyes as he looked at the smaller, pretty boy, his eyes were glued on permanently, intent on capturing every single  detail, every single movement as if it would be his last; that unlikely sparkle was what inhabited Bokuto's wide eyes.

Oikawa looked away with a dull, blooming sense of pain.

Here he was, in a bar - not the same one Iwa-chan took him to, obviously - with an alcoholic drink in his hands -  the fourth one since he came - he downed with a single swing and a carefree throw of his head backwards.

He bore the sting and closed his eyes.

A week had passed since his last talk with Iwaizumi, since his boss decided to suspend him. Oikawa knew damn well that it wasn't because of the "company and his best interest at heart", neither did he give any fucks about Oikawa's mental health.

So why? Why on bloody earth would he tell him off. Why would he care about him one night and then completely kick him out the next morning?

Maybe because he never cared in the first place....

You let yourself get carried away you delusional bastard.

"Oikawa-san?"

He looked up at Akaashi, "Hm?"

"Maybe you should go to the gymnasium to free your mind."

He smirked and patted the duffel bag by his side; it wasn't like he didn't have anything else to do.

Word of Oikawa's suspension reached the other staff's ears through the pretense of sickness and due to no ledger-related work to deal with, Oikawa busied himself with Akaashi's manga development and his volleyball club.

And to be honest, he loved it. He felt like his life was a lot better; drawing and chatting with Akaashi and the other team members on the next string of events for their storyline and training with many different schools, playing with Bokuto and encouraging young boys to pursue new things in volleyball made him realise just how much he missed out on. How he had kept neglecting the most important things to him.

It was true, he had always treasured volleyball and other new things since he was a kid. Since he lacked natural talent, he explored many topics, hunting for the right thing to put his life into, but so far, he only had volleyball.

And he wasn't even that good at it.

It was frustrating, so very frustrating.

He downed his next shot, with a prominent frown.

And yet, after all of that, he still ended up having sleepless fucking nights because of a particular asshole in his head.

An asshole with a buff body and tan arms, and alluring dark green eyes and black hair-

He groaned and pushed back his renewed hair - astonishingly, he concluded a few days ago that every loss of a job calls for a new season of change and thus, he got a haircut. It was nothing extra, he just got an undercut and trimmed the edges.

But it didn't really satisfy him.

He sighed again and got up, "Bokkun, ya ready to go?"

"Hm...?" Great, he was staring at Akaashi again.

The two kissed and Bokuto headed out of the cafe with Oikawa, Akaashi remained in the booth, his dark hair wild and his glasses askew. His head bent over an ipad and a coffee steaming beside him.

"So.... you guys seem... happy?" Oikawa tried for a conversation.

"Hm? Oh yeah, we're chill." Bokuto beamed.

"So, how did it happen?" Oikawa was a hopeless romantic, and he was painfully aware of that, but could he do?

"Oh, Keiji never told you? Well, then I'll tell you."

Bokuto then commenced on his story of when they had met in high school, how Akaashi had actually followed Bokuto to the same high school because he admired his volleyball skills. Oikawa smiled when he told them about the day they had started dating.

Apparently it happened when Bokuto had kissed Akaashi and told him about his feelings for him, but even after that he didn't get a clue, Akaashi simply thought they were "mega best friends."

Bokuto wiped a fake tear off his face and continued on his story of how they ended up in different universities but still made time for each other. Oikawa smiled again.

Bokuto then suggested to launch into a detailed description of how they had sex for the first time, which Oikawa turned down kindly.

Still, his guilty conscience screamed within him when Oikawa had started to imagine those scenes with him and Iwaizumi. If only Iwa-chan had fallen for the way he played, if only Iwa-chan had loved his bubbly personality, if only Iwa-chan had been the one to cheer him when he played.

Iwa-chan, Iwa-chan, Iwa-chan,...

"Hey," said Oikawa, "Tell me, what is it like to fall in love, or be in love."

Bokuto looked at him with wide amber eyes, "Why?"

"Just..... Wanna know."

Oikawa gave him a soft smile and added, "Curious."

"Well," Bokuto's voice went soft, "I don't exactly know how to describe it but, it's almost like love is.... Cruel."

"What?"

"Yeah... I remember when I fell in love with Keiji, it was horrible. There was this pain in my chest, an annoying ache that wouldn't go away.

"I would say his name often, think about him all night and even no matter how many times I ran around the block, the thought of him always made me feel... something."

They were nearly at the gym. The whole time Oikawa's eyes were wide as Bokuto spoke.

"The worst part was; doubt. I had no idea if Keiji would be mine, if he would ever love me, it scared me to think that I will never have the chance to be with him. It was.... Bad."

"So, what did you do?" He had no idea why he was whispering.

"I ignored it." He smirked at Oikawa.

"Huh?"

"Yep, I distracted myself with finals and volleyball, and then; BOOM."

The sound of sneakers squeaking and balls thumping resonated from within the gym, it was quite a big arena, four courts in total and the wooden floors were shiny.

There were many school jerseys in sight and the team stretching somehow made Oikawa's heart soar.

He chucked his duffel bag on the floor and joined in stretching with the other trainers, the thoughts on Bokuto's "BOOM" long forgotten.
