I had myself baptized several times before I felt I got it right. I even dunked myself once in a secluded lake. I was trying to make sure God knew my heart was serious about Joining the Jesus Club.
Another time I was invited by a certain church to a retreat and taken way up in the mountains where they had cabins. Little did I know there was a creek out back fed directly from an iceberg or mountain side of snow.
This is where they intended on saving my soul. I couldn't back out now. What a wimp I would look like but I had thoughts of sneaking away let me tell you.
To make this adventure more interesting, the creek was only about 2 feet deep. I had to kneel down in the freezing water and then lay back in the freezing water and then listen to Him ask me if I BELIEVE in the freezing demon liquid and then be immersed the rest of the way under in that soul cleansing H20 from hell and held under for what seemed like my eminent death by drowning period of time and then I was yanked back up and dragged to the beach and wishing one of the cute girls witnessing this ado, would come and give me mouth to mouth because I was sure I needed it. They say cold water closes the pores. This stuff slammed them shut..
At last I gained back my composure and that coward spirit of mine slipped back into my body. The thing was my spirit stepped out of my body before I stepped into the water, the traitor.
After a while I started feeling somewhat refreshed though during my teeth chattering a tooth was loosened.
I made it through that dunking alive after all but later I got to thinking about the river Jordan and that it was a nice warm river.. Jesus didn't have to be dunked in an iceberg swimming pool.
Though the more I think about it, if I was to ask God about this He would probably answer >>My kid is about to go through some serious Hell.. So If I want to dunk Him in a warm and relaxing river then I will so get over it. And with a smile appearing on His face would go on to say, by the way drug addicted, pot smoking Jesus freak--- I saw your name written in the big book the other day.
