with a snap of a finger, everything before your eyes can disappear and change in just a second.

adam, for example, lost lawrence for two years due to a traumatic experience that adam still hasn't recovered from.

lawrence on the other hand seems healthy and well, besides his missing foot.

-

adam stood outside the coffee shop in the morning, staring at lawrence sip from a cup of coffee.

he watched him carefully, observing his certain movements.

and observing the way he carried himself.

lawrence was all by himself.

adam wondered if lawrence were still married.

he then wondered where his daughter, diana, could be.

adam slowly stepped back away from the coffee shop, just to not seem too suspicious.

yet it didn't really help.

"hey." a familiar voice said.

adam turned to see casey staring at him, with her arms crossed, looking sad.

"oh, hey." adam replied.

casey turned to see what adam was looking at, then she spotted lawrence.

"i see you're still trying to build the courage to talk to him." casey then said.

"sure." adam said back, not knowing what else to say.

"sorry about yesterday." casey blurted, trying not to make things too awkward.

"it's fine, i'm sorry too." adam replied, looking at her.

casey turned away to look at lawrence again.

"strange old man." casey whispered to herself.

"he's not old." adam immediately corrected her.

casey gave adam a look then turned back to look at lawrence again.

"he's not." adam said again.

"okay." casey replied, "do you wanna get some coffee?"

adam looked at lawrence and shook his head.

"i don't want lawrence to notice me." adam admitted.

"right, sorry." casey rolled her eyes.

adam crossed his arms and looked down at his feet trying to drown the awkwardness that surrounded him and casey.

"i should go then." casey told him.

"no, we can get coffee." adam blurted finally.

casey looked at him funny, but then smiled.

so they then both walked inside the coffee shop, trying not to look at lawrence.

they then sat down eventually, staring at the menus that sat in front of them.

not speaking yet.

adam wasn't even searching for something he wanted to eat or drink.

he was mostly trying to fight the urge to turn and look back at lawrence.

"i can't do this." adam whispered.

"huh?"

"i need to talk to him." adam admitted.

"then do it-"

"no. not now, it's not the right time." adam interrupted her anxiously.

casey cut her eyes, then shortly looked back down at her menu.
