Chapter 14

Hawks POV

I'm starting to get worried about the kid. She ran in the moment she heard some kids were trapped inside. I cleared out the falling debris and went to the officers to figure out a plan. "Hey something is coming out of the building!" One of the civilians yelled out from behind the police tape. We all looked over to see a black figure carrying two kids. That's (l/n) shadow! Where the hell is she?! The kids hopped of the shadow before the shadow disappear. "Aiko! Kai!" A women yelled out from the crowed. Both the kids ran over to their mom. I was starting to worry because (l/n) hasn't come out yet. "Mr. Hawks!" The little boy called out to me. I flew over to him and leaned down so he could talk to me. "It's Ratri! She came to save us but when we got down the stairs the building started to fall so she's using her shadows to hold it up. Then she used her clone to get us out." The poor boy was about to break down into tears. "Ratri saved us while risking herself. You have to help Ratri Mr. Hawks!" Now I knew it was a race against time. (L/n) won't be able to last much longer. I pat the boy's head thanking him for the information. "I promise I will save her." I told the officers to keep the civilians back while I raced into the building to find (l/n). I used my feathers to find her exact location. Once I found her location I raced over. Dodging the debris and flames in the small space. When I finally reached (l/n), she had a huge load of fallen debris being held up but her shadows. (L/n) was down on one knee. I could tell she was physically and mentally exhausted. "Hey kid!"

Your POV

I could hear the sound of Hawks voice calling out to me. I looked up to see Hawks standing in front of me looking slightly worried. "Don't worry I'm going to get you out." "Did Kai and Aiko make it out?" I wanted to know that all my efforts weren't useless. I wanted to know that they were safe. "They got out safe and sound kid, worry about yourself for now." I didn't have the strength to do anything else so I focused on holding the debris up. Hawks stood up and backed away from me, before quickly sending a few of his feathers at me. The feather knocked me back onto the stairs behind me and all the debris that I was holding fell down. I felt my body began to relax from having the extra weight taken off me. "Hey kid!" Hawks came flying from over the debris pile and to me. "You ok kid?" I lifted my head up to see Hawks hovering over me. I smiled at him and he smiled back. "You did a great job, lets get you out of here. I think there are some kids who want to see you."

Timeskip

Hawks carried me out of the building. The fresh air of the night hit me causing me to wake up slightly. Everyone clapped their hands and cheered my name. Hawks put me down and I hung my arm around his neck. "You'll be a great hero Ratri." One of the crowd members yelled out. I held my head up high and smiled for everyone while waving my hand. "Ratri!!" I heard a voice called out. I saw the figure of Kai running over to me and started hugging my leg. "Thank you for saving me and Aiko." I leaned down and hugged Kai. After a short bit I broke the hug and placed my hand on his shoulder. "I should be thanking you. You told Hawks where I was and he was able to save me. So I guess that makes us both heroes." I gave Kai a closed eye smile. "One day I'm going to be a strong hero like you so I can save even more people!" I was caught off guard by his statement but I just smiled. "Lets both do our best." I held out my pinky and Kai took his pinky into mine. Our promise to do our best is sealed. "Come on Ratri, lets get you to the hospital to get checked out. I nod my head and stood up wrapping my arm back around Hawks neck so that he could help me get to the ambulance.

Hawks POV

I was in the lobby waiting for word on (l/n) condition. I'm pretty sure she's fine but it was just to be on the safe side. While I was standing against the wall the nurse came and told me it was ok to go in. I opened to door to the room and walked inside to see the kid sleeping. She must've been exhausted. The door opened to reveal the doctor. He looked over at (l/n) with a sad look and asked for me to speak with him outside. When I was outside the room the doctor turned to me. "When we looked over (l/n) we found a lot of brusing to her arms, thighs and a couple on her midsection." I was confused at first at where the doctor was going with this information since she was inside a burning building. "Mr. Hawks, these bruises are in different stages of healing and not only that we found several rib fractures that haven't healed properly. Is everything going alright at her home?" I was in shock at what the doctor was suggesting. "I honestly dont know, but I'll call her teacher to see if he knows anything." The doctor nod his head and walked away while I pulled out my phone to call the school. Lucky for me, Aizawa was the first to answer. Aizawa answered the phone in a tired tone. "Listen Aizawa, I took (l/n) to the hospital after a mission to make sure she's ok but the doctor said that they found evidence of abuse at home. Do you know anything about this?" Aizawa was quiet for a moment which made me worry. "I'll be there in a little bit we can talk about this when I get there." Without another word Aizawa hung up the phone. I went back into the room where (l/n) was still sound asleep. "How long have you been going through this?"

Not long Aizawa showed up at the hospital so that we could talk about (l/n) situation. The doctor let us use a private chat room so that we could speak. "I'm going to cut the the case, (l/n) has been having trouble at home but everytime I bring it up to her she evades the question for fear that her mother will harm her for telling someone." Aizawa went on explaining the story. He told me about her friends that figured it out but how they couldn't do anything about it until they have solid evidence. "With what the doctor told you we can have child protective services look into it." Aizawa told me. "We can't just sit around and wait though what if it is true and we send her home but they don't find evidence. The kid could get beaten again or worse." I know what I'm saying is true but I'm honestly at a loss for the best course of action. "I think we should talk to (l/n) when she wakes up. But until then lets keep it quiet about those injuries and let the press outside know that (l/n) is ok." I was confused for a moment then I realized that I completely forgot about the reporters outside. Aizawa walked into (l/n) room and I went to the front of the hospital to give the reporters an update.

Eijiro POV

I was begining to worry about (y/n). She hasn't answered any of my calls or text. It wasn't like her at all. "Hey man you doing alright?" Tetsutetsu asked me while he was changing out of his hero costume. "Yea, I just haven't heard anything from (y/n) yet. I'm starting to get worried." I'm sure she's fine man. I mean, she is with a top hero. Probably just busy." I laid back on my bed and thought about it for a moment. Yeah maybe he's right. I decided to turn on the tv to take my mind of it. I flipped through the channels when a video of a burning building caught my eye. "Man that looks bad." TetsuTetsu said while looking at the tv. "Earlier tonight a UA student of the hero course that goes by the hero Ratri, saved two kid tonight from the burning building." My eyes widen at the screen that showed a video of (y/n) rushing into the building. "Reports say that while she was saving the two children, the building began to collapse but Ratri was able to use her quirk to hold up the debris while. She got the children out using a clone but Ratri was still trapped inside. That was until pro hero Hawks, rushed into the building to save Ratri." The next video showed (y/n) being carried out by Hawks and the whole crowed clapping and cheering her name. "We know go live to the hospital where Ratri is being checked out foe injuries." The video cut to Hawks standing out of a hospital surrounded by reporters. "Ratri is doing just fine. She didn't suffer any injuries from the fire. Right now Ratri is sleeping from overusing her quirk. I'm sorry to make this short but I have to go back up and check on my intern." Hawks turned around and walked back into the building. I let out a sigh of relief knowing that (y/n) was ok. My phone began going off on my bed. I picked it up to her Mr. Aizawa's voice. "I need you to come down to the hospital where (l/n) is. We all need to have a talk." I was confused by Mr. Aizawa's request but I didn't refuse. If it is abould (y/n) then I would be there in a heartbeat. I threw on my shoes and a hoodie before letting Fourth Kind know that Mr. Aizawa needs me. He let me go so I left the agency abd began walking down the street to the hospital.
