Chapter Fourteen

Once we all got to the decathlon venue that's when the nerves started to kick in.

"Please be sure all cell phones are turned off."
The moderator called out as we all through.

One by one we handed our cellphones into the security and walked in

Narrator-
Meanwhile why the students were nervous about winning the competition. Peter was scared for his friends lives now finding out that the glowing core Peter had found, it was a bomb. He thought it needed to be kept safe so he knew that Ned probably took it to the decathlon which he did.

Y/ns pov-
Each question went by and I felt like we were doing pretty good. The other team seemed really cocky and I just wanted to beat them. Every so often I'd think that peter might be In trouble and then that would set me off track.

"We have now entered the sudden death"
The moderator said and you could feel the tension grow.  Each one of us prepares ourselves, trying to be calm, and placing our hands on their buzzers.
Flash sat next to me, he took a deep breath, clearly nervous like we all were.

The questions went by and I felt so nervous I could answer.

"The next correct answer wins the championship."
The moderator said after he said the question.
I panicked and it then buzzer.

"Midtown Tech?"
The moderator asked. Everyone looked at me as if I was a painting in a museum.

"Um-"
I started to second guess myself on what I thought the answer was.
"Oh-uh- it's zero"
I said nonchalantly.

"...That is correct! Midtown takes the championship!"
The moderator said and we all jumped up and started cheering. Everyone piled into a bear hug around me. I couldn't stop smiling.

After that, we went to the Washington monument.
Still, in a high of excitement, we all walked together letting it sink in that we won
"We won! We won!"
We all quietly chanted together.

"You guys, I am so proud of you."
MJ said as we stopped our chanting.

"See! Told you we didn't need Peter."

Peter... I forgot. I hope he's ok. I should call him

"Flash, you didn't answer a single question."
Ned said back at flash making everyone laugh.

As we waited while going through security I decided to call peter.

P: "Oh, y/n, you're alive!"
Y/n: "What- anyways Peter, are you okay?"
P: "y/n, y/n. Do you know if Ned has the glowy thing? T-the glowy thing!"
Y/n:" Don't worry, I'm pretty sure Neds keeping it's safe in his backpack."
As I said that Ned placed his backpack on the conveyor belt for an X-ray security scan.

P:" No, y/n, listen! Th-the glowy thing is dangerous."
I wasn't really paying attention to what he said

Y/n: "Well why'd missed the Decathlon I was really worried"

P: "Y/n, please listen to me!"

Y/n" We're at the Washington Monument now. You gotta-"
I started to say but then MJ took my phone

Narrator-
M:" Peter, is that you?"
P:" Oh, uh- hey, MJ"
P:" Please put Ned back on the phone."

Peter tried to make her give to phone back to y/n but she just kept on talking. Deep inside MJ didn't want to give the phone back feeling jealous he didn't call her first

M:" You are so lucky we won. You know, I want to be mad, but I'm more worried. Like, what is going on with you?"

P: "Please MJ, I have to talk to y/n. It's really important!"

MJ scoffed and put the phone on the conveyer belt.

Not hanging up, MJ put y/ns phone through the X-ray machine along with Y/ns backpack. Ned walked through the scanner, oblivious that he had a bomb on him, and moves to collect his backpack. 

"MJ? MJ! Damn it."
Peter called out into the phone noticing she was gone.

Peter kept running, and the Washington Monument comes into view as he got closer

Y/ns pov-
Each of us students stepped into the elevator one by one.

"Hey, Mr. Harrington, can I be the one to tell Peter he's expelled?"
Flash said and I rolled my eyes.

I opened took out my phone and was about to take a picture of all of us when something from Ned's backpack started to glow.
