Chad's POV
I don't know what had given me the courage, but I finally asked Cory what I've never had the balls to do for years. I finally asked him out! Well, kind of. We're just hanging out, but that's a start!
I got out of my car and locked it with a click and walked into my house.
"Mom! I'm home!" I called out and I heard grunting and a clang from the kitchen. I rushed into where the sound came from and saw my mom hunched over, picking up a dropped pan and muttering curses. I chuckled at her and she glanced at me.
"Oh hey sweetie, how long have you been home?" She walked over to the cabinet and put the pan away.
I shrugged, "Right before you dropped the pan."
She laughed, "Oh, okay."
It went silent and I was glancing at her and around the room. She must have noticed my discomfort, because she sighed and faced me with determination.
"Spill."
I sighed and scratched the back of my head, "Um...well, there's this person in my class and I asked them to come over tonight to...hang out."
I heard her gasp and I avoided eye contact.
"You've finally found a girl to bring over?!" She had a bright smile on her face. She clasped her hands together, "Oh my baby's all grown up! What's her name? How'd you two start interacting with eachother? How long have you liked her?"
I opened my mouth to object, but she continued on.
"Oh that doesn't matter! I should cook something for the two of you! Yes, that's it! Honey when will she be over? Why didn't you tell me about her soo-"
"Mom!"
She went quiet and looked at me with a 'what' look. I sighed and groaned, rubbing my face and behind my hands I mumbled,
"It's not a girl..."
My heart was pounding against my chest.
Am I about to tell my mom I'm gay?
What will she think?
Will I be kicked out for being the way I am?
"Oh, it's a boy?" I nodded and peeked at her face througg my fingers. She looked to be thinking long and hard about something.
It was quiet for a few minutes and then she looked at me. I dropped my arms by my sides and stared back at her nervously. We stared at eachother until she opened her mouth and said three words that shocked me, making my eyes wide and mouth gaping like a fish for I was at a loss for words.
"I knew it."
