Chad's POV
"I knew it." She said and grinned from ear to ear, while I stared at her shocked.
"Y-you knew?" I choked out and she chuckled.
"Yes, I knew. Your father and I both knew, we've just been waiting for you to tell us."
I didn't know how to respond. I stood there stiff and suddenly forgotten how to speak. She sighed and walked over to me and hugged me tightly.
"Baby it's okay, we still love you the same no matter who you love. We'll love them too."
"How'd you know I'm gay?" I managed to choke out finally able to find words again.
"Ever since you were 14, we knew you liked a boy. What's his name? Corbin? Cody?"
"Cory," I finished for her.
"Ah yes that's it! Well you came home from school and bragged about this boy in class the way a girl would about her crush, so we knew you weren't straight."
I nodded slightly, still processing what just happened.
"But...I thought you'd hate me for being different than the traditional heterosexual son every parent wants from their son or daughter. You never talk about your opinion though about gays...you only say what other people say about them, but never your own opinion." I was more of speaking to myself so I could process everthing and get a better understanding of this situation.
"Baby, we don't care if you're straight, gay, or whatever, you're our son and we love you with all our hearts. As long as you're happy, we're happy." She smiled and put her hand on my cheek, rubbing her thumb softly over my cheek in a comforting way. She always does that when she senses I'm concerned, or worried about something and I'm trying to figure out the problem.
I looked at her and she smiled softly which mady me smile lightly back. I hugged her tightly, burrowing my face in her neck. I sighed and held her tighter, closing my eyes as my mama held me. She always knew how to hug me in the way I felt like I was six again. Crying when I had woken up from a nightmare and was afraid of my closet, for there was a monster in there that would get me if I so much as moved a muscle. She had held me and rocked me in her arms till I fell back asleep with a small red nose and dry tears on my cheeks. I loved my mom so much, she was my bestfriend and I don't know what I'd do without her.
"I love you mom," I said after a few minutes of us just hugging. It was muffled by my face in her neck, but she heard me anyway.
"I love you too Chad." She pulled back and kissed my forehead and smiled up at me. I smiled back and she wiped my cheek from a tear I hadn't known had fallen.
"So, tell me about this Cory. Is he cute?" She winked and I laughed at her while nodding.
"More than cute, he's amazing. His eyes keep you in a trance and the way his cheeks turn red when he speaks is adorable. He's shy, but I can tell he's hiding his out going attitude underneath that shyness." I went on about him and almost forgot the time when I checked my phone.
'5:30'
Shit! I'm running out of time!
I quickly left the kitchen and went up to my room to get ready.
Why am I so nervous? He's just a guy. A cute, adorable, beautiful guy who I've loved since forever.
I smiled to myself in the mirror as I adjusted my red semi-tight fitting t-shirt and loose black jeans. I took a deep breath, sprayed two sprays of my cologne and smiled to myself. This is it. The doorbell rang and I took one last look in the mirror before running down the stairs and opening the door.
I grinned, "Hey."
