==========

Calores are nothing but phonies, their intimidating acts are just to keep up an image, I realized this fact after Cal drove me to my favorite part of this wretched city.

"Do you like it?" he asked. He took me to a hill that overlooks the city, which was truly breathtaking. Since there wasn't a cloud in the star-speckled night, there was a stunning full moon that night too, making the stars shine brighter than usual.

The city lights gave off a soft glow which helped the aesthetic of the night. "I never get tired of coming to this hill, it always reminds me of heaven." The warm breeze that night felt nice on my cold skin. I turn away from him and look at the sky while taking in a breath of air with my eyes closed.

"Oh so you come up here often then?" He asks, intrigued.
Nodding, I responded to him, never taking my eyes off the starry night sky, "Me and my best friend always come up here on rough nights."

"You don't live too far then?" All this guy asks are questions.

"Mhm, you'll find out sooner or later, you are the one taking me back to my house after all." I answer him once again, in a light-hearted tone. The air filled with playfulness and joy all of a sudden.

He grinned and looked at me with ambitious eyes "Why don't we eat that dessert you got over there and stargaze?" After A quick moment of silence I responded to him, "Yeah, It's been a while since I've gazed at the stars in silence." Usually when me and Kilorn come up here, It's never just to stargaze. We talk about our day and who we want to hit at school, which usually ends in us play-fighting. Kilorn has been my best friend ever since I saw him chasing alley cats. The poor things looked so disheveled so getting Kilorn away from them was the best I could do.

Cal and I stared at the stars together in silence. The only noise to be heard was the light night breeze and grass shuffling now and then to reach out and eat a slice of dessert. I could feel him stare at me for a while. He's done it multiple times but I chose to Ignore each and every single time. Right now, at this moment, the only thing that matters to me is my Chocolate Souffle and the night sky above.

"I should probably go home," I say, slowly returning to my night time daze. "My family is probably worried as hell it's almost 12:00." We had spent hours just stargazing and eating. "I wish we could stay like this for a little longer." Cal an ambivalent look on his face, I guess happiness for my company and a bit of sadness that I'm leaving. He reminds me of a wounded puppy, "Me too. Thanks for everything tonight but we should really get going." As we head back to his jaw-dropping car, I notice he tries reaching for my hand. I quickly shove my hands in pockets and continue walking to the car.

My heart is too feeble to be played with right now.

"Barrow," he turns around

"Calore?"

It looks like he takes a minute or two to come up with a way to ask his question.
"Would you mind, uh, giving me your number?"

I blankly stare at him and he looks away from me as if he's done something wrong. "I mean it's fine if you don't want to, I just thought it would be fun hanging out again." I almost laughed at how quickly he said that sentence. "Am I scaring you or something Mr. Quarterback?" I hand him my phone before he can respond. I watched as he took out his phone and called himself with my phone, saving my number.

When he turned around to walk to the driver's seat, I thought it would be funny to try and pick pockets like my old pick pocketing days. As I lightly put my hand in his back pocket he spins around with his hand on my wrist and stares at me with a smile, "Thief," he grins "Obviously" I reply with a playful tone. "You've already stolen my heart, and now you're after my pockets?" I couldn't help but let out a very 'un-lady like' laugh, his heart? Really? How cheesy. "It's your fault for leaving it out in the open." I chided, snaking off into the passenger's seat for the second time that night . I ignored whatever he mumbled from his mouth.

I gave him a quick smile. "Thank you for tonight, really, I enjoyed it." As I unlocked the car door I felt his hand quickly grab my wrist. Instinctively I flinched and quickly pulled my hand back.
"Sorry." Both of us say at the same time. The silence lasts for a couple more seconds before I decide to turn away. "Wait, Mare."

As I turn around to look at him, he throws me his jacket, "Don't want you freezing to death huh," he nervously chuckles and I roll my eyes "I really enjoyed tonight with you and I was wondering if you," he pauses "If you would like to go on a real date with me sometime next week?" he looks at me with the wounded puppy-dog expression. "Oh? Oh I said that aloud." I shift between my feet. I don't want to move too fast again. "Um, I'll think about it okay?" I put on the jacket and finally exit the car, "Goodnight Calore." He sounds far away when he responds with his goodnight.

I rub my wrist filled with bad memories of me and Jonathan together as I walk home. Instead of lingering on those thoughts I decided to think about tonight instead. My lips curve upwards as I glance at the starry sky once again.

Of course when I get home my mom and dad are in the living room, along with Bree and Tramy. My mom looks at the door with relief "Honey where have you been? We were so worried about you. Why didn't you call? No matter, you're here now and that's all that matters."

They all nod in agreement with mom, but Shade comes down stairs and doesn't let me off so easily. "Whose jacket is that?" He questions and raises an eyebrow. I guess the fact I look disheveled doesn't help, "It's my date's jacket, we went stargazing." I say "Nothing happened, he gave me his jacket because of how cold it is outside." He raises his eyebrows even more "What happened to your boyfriend? Jonathan was it?" Fuck, did he really have to ask? My face scrunches at the thought of just saying his name as I say "Ex-boyfriend now. Jonathan is irrelevant to me now. " Shade squints his eyes "Then whose jacket is it?" "I don't need to tell you everything that happens to me" I snap at him "now if you're done, I'm going to bed."

I stomp past him and into Gisa's and I room. Gisa looks at me with pride "Is he nice?" she asks "Goodnight." Throughout the night she tries to question me about mystery man but I tune her out and fall asleep.
