Mare
This was not the night I had in mind. My "boyfriend" was supposed to meet me at this restaurant called "Ada's Delight" over one hour and thirty minutes ago it's our 6 month anniversary. This was becoming a monthly routine between us and I'm not happy with it at all. For our last two months he ditched me and sent flowers to my house as some sort of apology. My Father is allergic to flowers.
During my angry train of thoughts,my waiter, Araceli, had come by for the 4th time tonight, "Are you ready to order dear," I scan the menu once more as if that's going to change anything, glancing at her once I've finished looking over the already memorized menu.
There was a flash of pity and empathy in her eyes, quickly replaced with a smile followed by "Unless you need a little more time." I sigh, rising from the table "I think I'll be leaving, thank you though." I'll be known as the poor little girl who got stood up, I wonder how long it'll take for this gossip to spread around my small neighborhood. "You should order something to go dear, you've been here for quite a while." Me being here for I don't even know how many hours, I had already planned my full meal. I guess just dessert will do though. "I just want a Milk Chocolate Soufflé please.." Araceli nodded "It's on the house," she gives a light smile and shuffles away. I could feel my face heat up as I sat down and stuck my nose back into the menu.
After a couple of minutes, I notice someone approach, waving at..me? "Hey, babe! Sorry, I'm late," I noted the pity in his eyes, great just another person that feels bad, "Traffic tonight just wouldn't let up." He looks familiar, but I just couldn't remember his name, his messy brown hair, his strong appearance... and his breathtaking bronze eyes. Giving him a tight lipped grin, I motion for the seat next to me and reply with "No problem, I already ordered dessert though." During our couple minutes of silence I try my best to study him and remember exactly who the hell this guy was.
He sits next to me and starts explaining his motives in a hushed whisper. "I apologize for randomly showing up, spreading rumors that some sad girl got ditched and she was still in the restaurant." Huh, that was faster than expected. "So, as the prince charming I am," he pauses to give me a wink, which tugs my lips downwards a little. "thought I would help out."
"Do I know you?" I question and he pretends to be hurt by my inquiry. "Miss Barrow," Stalker. "It's me, Cal, from highschool? You know the former captain of the football team?"
"Let me be honest, I've never seen a school football game in my life 'Cal'" I reply nonchalantly, honestly who cares about that sport? Me and Kilorn only went to one football game to get a break from home, and 90% of the time we weren't paying attention, only laughing when players on either side of the field were tackled.
Before he gets a chance to reply I speak again, "Former? You graduated already?" He chuckles like it was the funniest thing he's ever heard. "I was a senior last year," he explains with a sparkle in his eyes "The only reason I know the infamous Barrow, is because you spray painted the front of the school." That was his first impression of me. But I clearly remember doing that with Kilorn and Shade one night, maybe something along the lines of "spoiled brats only (no normal people allow)," good times.
I had only done that out of boredom and disgust for the school I had gotten a scholarship in. "And your Christmas dance prank of course." Ah, the memories, Kilorn, Shade, and I had put flour into the vent like it was snow last year. The previous year we turned the air conditioning to the coldest with water in the vents. I chuckled at the memory of the screaming. "Tiberias the seventh Calore," I say with the best fake pride voice I had while he winced at his birth name "otherwise known as Cal. The most popular kid in school, perhaps the richest next to Evangeline." Glancing at him from across the table, he seemed uncomfortable after the mention of Evangeline. I decided to drop the asshole act and start an idle conversation with him.
We finished eating and started making our way outside. "Yeah and then-" and then I saw it, his car was beautiful, a Tesla with silver rims that sparkled in the night. He must have seen my surprise because he laughed. "Oh? How much do you wanna bet the car would take me on a better date than my ex." he looks at his car and smiles "She's all mine, Barrow." I laughed at his attachment to the car while he continued "Just like you're all mine for tonight." He gives me an enticing crooked grin and a wink, "Do you have an eye disease? There's something going on there I swear." I say with a semi-serious tone. He pulls on a fake frown again "This is the second time you've turned down my winks Barrow. I'm starting to think you don't like me." I laugh at him," Well I never said I did like you." I say as I practically dance over to the passengers side.
"Yeah yeah remember who's driving."
Once he says that I realize I never told him where I lived. "Where are you taking me?"
When I look at him, he has on a mischievous smile "Didn't your parents ever tell you not to trust strangers?"
A/N: so i dont know if you guys noticed but I made Mare less easy to flusters, Previously i wrote her as a "cutesy >////<" when really she's cautious with her heart, yup thats it bye now
