The group laughed and joked and tried really, really hard to make those cool smoke rings. Unsurprisingly, or maybe disappointingly, Thomas was the only one who mastered the trick no matter how determined the other two were.

Becoming bolder as night rapidly approached, Kilorn and Thomas had even tried taking Mare's phone and texting Cal themselves. The only flaw with that plan is they had said it out loud, almost sobering up the short brunette. Maven suggested a sleepover at Thomas's place. The rest of them were set on the plan considering the fact their driver was too stoned and intertwined with the youngest Calore brother to drive them back anyways.

The rest of the night was a blur to Mare.

She woke up with Kilorn sprawled on one side and Thomas on the other. As she fought against the two giants she was so fortunate to be sandwiched between, she felt her hair was lighter than usual and let out a huff of disbelief and amusement.

Finally after what seemed like months of warfare, she had escaped from the two boys' (impressive) hold on her. She found her way to the bathroom and took a good look at her curly hair in a wolf cut. She thinks it's alright... But what of her family? Eh, seems like a problem to deal with later. She closed her eyes and turned around only to walk into something, or someone? Instinctively she punched whatever blocked her path, and as a result a wheeze came out of the other person.

"Shit! Maven! I'm so sorry," the brunette started in a rushed whisper, reaching out to stabilize him until the unsuspecting victim put a hand up to recollect himself. "No, no," he coughed lightly. "That was certainly my fault, I should've known better." he said with a weak smile, massaging his now injured abdomen. Mare faintly smiled in return "Yeah, you should've, what in the world convinced you to go up to me of all people." she ended with a light laugh before Maven signaled her to calm down a little. "The others are still sleeping, Mare" with another wave we stepped out of the little hallway and back into the living room area.

Mare plopped onto the sofa as Maven began to open the window as an attempt to hide the activities from the previous night. The calming yet eerie strokes of dawn fill the living room

"How much do you recall from last night, Mare?" The black haired boy hummed as he began picking things off the floor. Mare sits a bit straighter at this new observation.

For Maven only cleans when he's worried.

"Mave, don't tell me I did anything stupid"

"Well, it depends on what your definition of stupid is. I, for one, find smoking stup-"

"Maven."

The other boy flinched at the hard edge in the girl's voice before letting out a sigh.

"You called Cal the other night,"

Oh hell

"and told him that, you wouldn't mind hanging out again..then Kilorn took your phone and hung up."

The brunette let out a relieved sigh, "Why did you have to drag the story like that Mave?" she shook her head with a smile as an attempt to calm her racing heart.

"Mare," the boy started softly. "Have you ever taken the time to search up the Calore family?" Mare found her eyes to his face for the second time that early morning. What was wrong that he couldn't say it outright? "Well I hear about you guys...never really took the time to search now that I think about it?" the room falls silent yet again. "I mean why would I wanna do a background check on my friend and his family," Mare attempts, yet the joke falls flat as Maven quietly sucks in a breath and the rising sun slowly lights up the room and reflects his pale white skin.
