gio went back to germany soon after. life continued as it had before.

when it came to gio, he was missing kat just as much, perhaps even more that kat was missing him. he had even more things occupying his time than before, what with now getting regular first team football in all competitions (including the champions league).

but in those moments when he was alone, after matches or training sessions, when the rest of the team had gone home, his thoughts would always wander to his favourite canadian. every day he would facetime her, but it was never quite the same as having her there with him.

kat missed him so much. she thought of him whenever she opened fandom, she thought of him when she walked past the campus football pitches, she thought of him whenever she walked through the park where they'd shared so many tender kisses.

the only plus-side was that kat was now even more motivated to pass her course, and was working even harder whenever she could so she could graduate and finally move to germany.

as for erin, imogen and rose, they were still their same old selves. they knew kat had been very down since gio left, and her three best friends decided to do something to cheer her up.

by some astounding coincidence, all of kat's fandom friends were somehow in canada at the same time about a month later. 

kacy had come on holiday with her father and was staying with them for a couple of nights after forming a strong friendship with all four of the girls online. jorja was attending a harry potter convention that she had been saving up to buy tickets for and was staying a couple of hours away. mel was doing research for her debut novel that she was thinking about setting in canada.

ester was taking a gap year off school to explore some new places. jess was visiting some distant family members. zaara was on holiday with her family. julia had gotten tickets to a real madrid friendly match that was to be played in canade. andreya was deciding on which university to go to, and had come to canada to have a look at a few around there.

'hey katwoman, do you fancy going for a walk?' kacy asked one saturday morning, 'you've been working so hard, you definitely need a break.'

'no, i'm good,' kat responded, not looking up from her essay, 'i want to get this done.'

'kat, it's due next month. you're coming with me.'

before kat could properly protest, imogen and rose were heaving her out of the chair and frogmarching her to the front door.

'come on!' kacy grinned, 'just an hour or two to blow away the cobwebs.'

an hour later, feeling much refreshed and very rejuvenated, the two returned to the apartment.

'after you!' kacy smiled, holding the apartment door open for kat. she walked in, kicking off her boots at the door.

'uhh..why are all the lights out?' kat asked, concerned. she dearly hoped there hadn't been a powercut, she was dying for a cup of tea.

suddenly the lights flicked on.

'surprise!' several voices shouted at once. kat leapt back in shock, but quickly ran forwards again as she took in all the people standing in her living room.

'i...what...how on earth are you here?' kat gasped, rushing around and giving everyone a hug, 'it's so cool to finally meet you guys in person.'

'we were all over here,' jorja grinned. she was lying on the floor playing with mad-eye, 'so erin suggested we organise a little surprise and all come over for a party.'

'i love you guys.' kat grinned at her roommates, 'now let's have some fun!'
