Ivy, Marie, and Dennis settled themselves in their normal seats at the end of the Gryfindor table, far from the teacher table. Ivy continued talking to the others, listening to their arguments over the best muggle candy, when the conversation of hogsmade came up.

"Dad signed it, but he told me to write to him at least twice a week in return." Marie said. Moony had also signed her form, he knew she had been to hogsmade before, several times in her first year to be able to see Sirus and make sure he didn't go running around hogwarts. Moony also found out that she had snuck off to hogsmade with Marie and Dennis last year as well. This is because Harry was being watched constantly by a member of the order of the Phoenix, since Voldemort was back. When Mundungus Fletcher, a filthy theif that happened to be a member of the order, Was in the Hogs head where the meeting was held, he saw Ivy and the other two and told the order everything at the next meeting.

While the order had been disappointed, they realised that Harry technically was the one forming the group, and he asked her to be there. Speaking of Harry, Ivy couldnt see him anywhere. The sorting had just started, as a timid looking dark haired boy became a hufflepuff. When the sorting was over, Harry came in. Followed by Professor Flitwick. He was covered in blood, he's covered in blood again. Why is he always covered in blood? She asked herself. Hermione spotted him, rolled her eyes, and flicked her wand as the blood siphoned off of him. She looked over to see Draco malfoy, her cousin, pointing at harry, pretending to be punched in the nose, and laughing along with a large group of slytherins. Marie looked at Harry. "What happened to him?" She asked. Ivy gestured over to malfoy. "I assume malfoy broke his nose." She looked over to Dumbledore, who had stood up. "Welcome students, new and old. I am pleased to see so many new faces." Ivy looled around, she knew that Dumbledore couldn't exactly say "smiling faces" as everyone in the great hall had straight faces, or otherwise scared.

"I am also pleased to announce that this year we have two new teachers. Your defense against the dark arts teacher this year will be; Professor Snape" Ivy looked around, Gasps had rang out from the students of the other 3 tables, while a loud applause erupted from the slytherin table. "Wait, then who will be the potions master?" Snape had previously been the potions master. Ivy thought she hated potions then. Not that the class was difficult, she had good marks in that class, but it was because of Snape that she hated it.

Dumbledore waited for the hall to quiet down before continuing. "The new potions master will be a old friend of mine, I would like you to meet, Horace Slughorn." There was a small applause as a stout, round, man stood up, looking vaugley as though he didn't necessarily want to be there.

Later that night, Ivy curled up in her bed, staring at the door that now read, third years girls, Ivy closed her eyes and drifted into an easy sleep.

Ivy woke early the next morning, a pale grey light pouring into her dorm, the clouds above threatening rain. The other 3 girls she shared a dorm with were still fast asleep. Delaney and Aaron both had the same book in their lap. The previous night they had stayed up late discussing it as if they were in some sort of book club that was only between the two of them.

When Ivy finished getting dressed, she walked out the door, accidentally stubbing her toe on one leg of the bed. "Ow" she breathed, loud enough for Aaron to wake. "Ivy what are you doing, its 6:00, class doesn't start till 8!" She said, looking around their dorm. "I always wake up this early." Ivy responded, heading out the door. Since it was early, no other griffindor was in the common room. She pulled out a peice of parchment and a quill and began writing,

Hey Moony,

I don't know if Dumbledore has already told the order who this years defense against the dark arts teacher is, but its Snape. I'm sure Harry isn't too happy about that. Speaking of Harry, He arrived late yesterday and missed sorting. I think malfoy broke his nose on the train because he was covered in blood, also because malfoy decided to reenact Harry's nose being broken to the whole Slytherin table.

Hope your alright,
Ivy

Ivy folded up the letter and tucked it in her bag. She could go to the owlery to deliver it later. Just then, Delaney came downstairs. "Hello Ivy, I need to write to my mum." She said as Ivy got out of the chair.

She quickly rolled up her paper and made her way to the owlry where her Harpy eagle, Athena would hopefully be in the mood to deliver.
