Later that morning, Ivy, Marie, and Dennis went down to breakfast. When Ivy was passed her schedule, she looked down, The new classes that she had chosen were listed for her first day. "Ancient Runes and Care of magical creatures" She said, happily putting her schedule in her bag. "What did you get?" She asked Dennis.

Dennis shook his head, "Care of magical creatures and divination" He said Dismissively.

"Why?" Ivy asked, bewildered. Ivy spent enough time with older students to know that divination was a huge waste of time, Dennis shrugged. "I don't know, the other classes seemed boring."

After breakfast, Ivy baid goodbye to Dennis as they parted, Dennis going up the marble stair case while Ivy proceeded to go down the corridor to her first Ancient Runes class. While Marie trodded off to Arithmancy.

Despite the fact that the class was filled with charts and strange symbols, It was quite interesting. Ivy had al ways loved deciphering secret codes, and ancient runes was just that. They were given homework, Decipher the text and awnser what story this is from. Ivy met the other two as they headed down to Hagrid's hut at the edge of the forest.

One odd thing about Ivy (as there were many) Is that she could move things with her mind, no wand needed. She knew that this was something that some children could do to show that they have magic, so this in itself was nothing special. The ability was supposed to go away after their first year at school. In her first year, Dumbledore himself had given her lessons to learn how to control it, and she had to say, she was getting rather good at it, having hit her uncle's cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange, with a bench in a battle last year.

The first lesson was surprisingly tame. Hagrid had given them each a flobberworm to look after by the end of class. Ivy introduced Marie and Dennis to Hagrid and even got to meet up with buckbeak. Buckbeak was the hippogriff that Sirius had escaped on and sort of adopted as a pet. When he "died", Hagrid was allowed to keep him, though he had to change his name to avoid the attention of the ministry. "He's called witherwings now." said hagrid as Ivy watched the mighty hippogriff bow back to her.

Ivy hung back after class, slipped a note out of her bag, and passed it to Hagrid quickly. "Give this to Dumbledore please, I can't stress enough how important it is that nobody else reads it though." She gave him an awkward one armed hug after he took the letter, and proceeded off to lunch.

Ivy, Marie, and Dennis all marched back up to the castle, and then hurried off to potions with the ravenclaws. When Ivy entered the class, she was met with the sight of a very plump man trying to settle down the class. When the class saw Ivy, they quieted down. "Merlin's beard... Ivy Black." Slughorn muttered as Ivy and Marie sat down at a table in the middle of the class.

The class spent the next hour trying to prepare a pensive potion, which was the stuff that you dumped your memories into. "No, using a knife to cut the unicorn horn won't work, try grinding it" Ivy muttered to Dennis who sat at the table behind them when they started. By the end of class, A light blue smoke filled the dungeon from one of the ravenclaw boys, chunks of pearls spewing out of his cauldron. "Oh, now, Its quite alright Devin, it's alright... Oh, Why, this is nearly perfect," Said Slughorn, now glancing over at Marie's and Ivy's general direction. "I beleive your muggle born?" Slughorn said to Dennis, he nodded

"ah yes, Muggleborns always turn put the brightest, and you, Ivy" He said, now turning to her. "Your mother and father were just brilliant at potions, so no doubt their daughter would do just as good" he said, Giving a hearty laugh.
