[Mbalenhle]
Mom looked at me straight in the eye questioning me, i couldn't look at her , guilt consume me and i knew she could tell right through my eyes that the was something wrong."Hle i feel like you've been distant lately, you hardly talk to me anymore" she said holding my hand " let me in Enhle , you not alone anymore, this new Enhle is self destructive, pushing away everyone and closing yourself in isn't good for you , am your mother Hle i worry about you" she said desperate for me to open up, I looked at the floor as tears blinded my eyesight , they rolled down and fell on the floor, i retreated my hand away from her.
"Am fine ma" had you ever had that 'am fine' moment while tears rolled down, I wiped them with the back of my hand, as soon as Lwethu walked in , i gave her a smile opening my arms, she walked towards me before we shared a brief hug.
"I love you Lwethu okay" i said assuring her she squeezed me tightly for few minutes before pulling away from me.
"I love you too Ma" she said i could feel my heart doing back flips, i did say slowly we were going in a right path, as if my problems hadn't been enough Qhawe stood at the door knocking , does this guy have a life konje.
"Oh sawubona Qhawe" (hi) Mom said surprised , he gave her a tight smile.
"Sawubona ma bengicela ukhuluma no Mbalenhle"(can i talk to Mbalenhle) he said ma nodded before excusing herself that she was going to go back to her shade since the house had suddenly became too hot for her.
"Nana can you excuse us for few minutes” I said to Lwethu brushing her long hair, she nodded i missed my dreadlocks but they were gone, I cut them off as a new chapter of my life, Lwethu too went outside i made sure she was out of sight before leading Qhawe to the chairs, he settled opposite me his eyes not leaving my face, his gaze made me uncomfortable as i shifted, his eyes told me he has a lot to say but was choosing proper words.
"You didn't answer my question earlier " he said i bitten my lower lip surely that would leave marks.
"Which was” I was stalling i knew.
"Is she Mine “he stared at the door i took a deep breath clasping my hands together as i lean forward.
"No" i answered boldly he shrunk falling backwards , i wanted to be emotionless as i could be but i guess he was a master at reading faces.
"So you wouldn't mind me doing DNA test" he asked i shrunk on my chair looking at his dead face.
"I wouldn't be putting my daughter in that place, she is way too young "he tilted his face to the side " she might be "i ended up giving in too his stares , he took a deep breath running his hand on his fade, a part of me felt i was making my biggest mistake but what kind of parent would i be if i denied Lwethu this chance.
"That's fine but DNA is still an option towards me ,look if you thinking about blood test and everything worry not the are still ways to do the test" he assured me i close my eyes for few minutes.
"I don't want Lwethu getting her hopes high for nothing, i don't want to put her at that point , i don't want her knowing the DNA test" i stated he opened his mouth but closed it quickly, "let me finish" i said.
"Okay" he raised his hands up in form of surrender.
"But I'll grant you the DNA test I'll give you her toothbrush if that's okay" i said he nodded his head biting his lower lip, silence engulf us for few minutes before i stood up.
And as promised Detective Khumalo came later in the afternoon, i was nervous as hell but i couldn't allow Mo to control me for the rest of my life.
"Okay tell me more" he said as soon as he was down, we didn't meet at home because i couldn't let ma see anything we were in his car.
"How do i know i have to trust you with our deal" i asked not looking at him , he sigh loudly that i head him.
" i need you alive as a witness so why screw you over" he asked i nodded biting my lower lip thoughtfully.
"As i said before Mo is the leader but the are more people involved in this, more girls travel across the world transporting drugs, it has days not everyday , the is a airport guy who helps them too" i took a deep breath "they would never think of testifying against Mo ,arresting them wouldn't help anyway, its not just that ,he owns a brothel too i can 100% attest that those girls are forced , they put on drugs everyday"
"I need more than that Miss Qwabe " he said i glanced at him and he got the message to keep quite.
"The is a warehouse in Boksburg , you wouldn't even suspect it because the is a front, Nkosi Ptd Ltd it's not what you see , its not all legal that's where the products are mixed to make drugs " i added , as soon as i opened my mouth words came out as i started from the beginning ,and told him everything, everything i knew ,my determination to protect Lwethu drove me even deeper as i said everything.
"This is a lot to take in" he said as soon as i was done "but its enough to send more people down and stop this nonsense they have been doing “he said running his hand on his face ,i notice the gold band on his fingers.
"What now” I asked.
"Now we follow up your information and take down these bustard down, and because i know enough i don't trust anyone about this case i will solely work on this case, when they are arrested then we can try and take you to a safe house" he said i nodded before leaving him behind, I wasn't at ease at all, my heart and gut felt like something wasn't right ,the last time i had this was when i would be arrested, i felt eyes on me and i continued looking around but the was nothing it was probably my mind playing games with me.
"Mbalenhle Qwabe suyajola"(are you dating)ma asked i raised an eyebrow confused at her question before registering what she meant.
"Hawu ma ngimdala kangaka"(mom am old now) i said shaking my head she laughed at that before Sfundo joined in and Asanda.
"Ayisuka man wena umdala kuphi you only 31 years only i should be saying that " (no you not old you only 31 years) she said i shook my head at that watching Asanda cook , it had been a daily norm, my phone beeped in my hands.
"You take from me i do the same" the message said i looked at the picture of Lwethu , my tears in a split of moment fell from my face.
"Ma where is Lwethu " i asked she looked at me weirdly.
"Ngimthumile estolo"(she went to the store) she said i sworn i felt my whole body collapsing on the floor, i knew poking a lion in the butt was a bad idea but i didn’t know the lion had the cheater speed, I could hear ma asking the problem but my throat couldn't even utter a single word at that.
