I took a deep yawn and stretched out my arms up in the air, still half asleep from last night's rest.
Gotta get ready soon.
Just one more minute, I told myself as I looked out onto the view before me.
I sighed.
I can't be late today.
I need to make sure there's time to see Hinata.
Once I gathered the strength to leave my bed, I began my regular morning routine.
Workout. Shower. Brush teeth. And...
My hair. How should I style it today?
I tried my hardest to get the same soft, silky, fluffy looking hair I had yesterday, but to little surprise, I had no luck.
I sighed and reached for the gel.
Once I finished that, I put on a black suit along with a crimson tie.
What time is it...
I grabbed my watch sitting on my bedside table and wrapped it around my wrist. It read:
7:12 AM
Shit! I spent way too much time on my hair.
I let out a sigh and rushed to finish getting ready.
Once I was done, I only had enough time to look at my schedule.
I don't have much of anything to do today. That's good. No meetings during lunch either.
If I wasn't free at lunch, I could just try to see Hinata another day, but I didn't really want to wait.
Guess I'm skipping breakfast.
And with that, I walked out of my door, anxious for the day ahead.
The first few hours of work went by pretty fast.
Once I finished the last call before lunchtime, I watched as one of my coworkers walked up to my desk.
What now...
"Hey, Kageyama-Senpai!"
I noticed it was Yamada, a temp. I didn't bother to learn her full name.
"Ah, Yamada. Is something the matter?"
She blushed. "Oh, no! I was just wondering... If you wanted to get lunch... with me?"
I sighed. "Not really."
The expression on her face quickly turned from a smile to looking like she was about to cry.
Jesus, I don't wanna deal with this.
"Sorry, that's not what I meant. I just mean- I have other plans."
She smiled at me again "Alright! Raincheck then?"
Lady, take a hint.
"Sure."
Once I watched her walk away, I grabbed my coat and tried my hardest to exit the building with no more social interactions.
After I made it to the front entrance, I quickly waved over a cab and sat inside.
...
I made it.
I looked across the street to the familiar view of the salon I went to just yesterday.
"Okay, Tobio. You can do this." I muttered to myself.
I crossed the street and hesitated, just for a moment, before I collected myself and walked inside.
I heard the bell ringing on the door once again.
Walking up to the front desk, I recognized the same young woman from the other day. She seemed focused on something on the computer.
I greeted her to grab her attention. "Hey."
She looked right up at me. "Oh! Kageyama! Nice to see you again."
"You remember my name?"
She smiled. "Yup!"
She stopped for a moment to press a button on her keyboard, then looked back up at me.
"Actually, I happened to get a lot of questions about you from some of our... female customers." She let out nervous laughter.
"Oh, I see."
"So what brings you here? I hope it's not anything bad!"
"No, actually, I was just wondering if-" before I could finish my sentence, I heard a much higher, friendly voice come from the other side of the salon.
"Well, if it isn't Kageyama!"
I turned around and saw him again.
The same bright orange hair from the other day. The same smile and warm eyes. But something was different.
Instead of his hair looking big and fluffy, and covering his entire scalp, his hair was at a slightly shorter length on the top, and the sides were buzzed.
Wow.
C-cute!
I struggled to not let my face turn red as I looked at it. Somehow, he's even more endearing than the day before.
I guess I failed, because Hinata noticed my blush, cocking his head to the side like a puppy.
"Hmm? What are you looking at..." Then he seemed to realize something and smiled.
"Oh, you noticed! I cut my hair last night!" He put his hands towards his head to feel his own hair.
"Actually, I should thank you. Doing your hair yesterday really inspired me to try something new! You like it?"
I nodded. "Y-yes."
He giggled, then walked closer towards me.
"So what brings you here? Anything I can do for ya?"
I suddenly remembered what I was here for.
"Oh, right." I scratched my head.
"Wanna, like— I mean, if you're not busy or anything... We could get lunch? Or even just coffee if you don't have a lot of time?"
He smiled.
"I'd like that."
Yes!
"Let's get lunch. Since I'm the manager, I don't usually have clients, and I'm mostly free during the daytime. Plus, I'm pretty hungry!"
"Okay. That sounds good."
"Let me just grab my coat, and I'll be right back, okay?"
"Sure."
