"So we're going to a park? Which one?" I questioned him as we walked out of the restaurant.
He smiled. "It's a surprise."
"A surprise?" I looked at him, clearly confused, but he ignored me.
"Taxi!" He called out.
I grinned. "Ah, it's far then? Hmmm, let me think.."
"Hey! I said it's a surprise!"
The cab pulled over to us and we got inside.
Hinata covered his ears to get me to do the same. I sighed and followed his orders. He then whispered something to the driver, but I couldn't make it out.
The drive was relatively quick.
Once we arrived, Hinata pulled out his wallet. I stopped him. "You know, I can-"
"C'mon, I can pay for a taxi ride! Let me do this!"
I sighed. "If you insist."
We left the cab and it drove away.
I looked around. Although we were clearly still right near the city, it almost looked as though there was nothing around for miles. Before us was a long pathway leading to a gate.
"Where the hell are you taking us? There's no park around here."
Hinata giggled.
God, how I love it when he does that.
He stopped for a moment, then went to cover my eyes but couldn't reach.
CUTE.
I laughed. "I'll do it," I said, covering my own eyes.
I felt Hinata's left arm wrap around my right to lead me. "Now no peeking!"
We started walking and I heard him open the gate.
Then, we walked what seemed like miles (though, I had no idea because I couldn't see) and eventually Hinata let go of my arm.
"Okay, you can open."
I moved my hands away from my eyes.
The view was incredible.
Trees as far as the eye could see, covered with the blossoming flowers and each a soft light pink.
I watched as the petals danced and fell gracefully to the pavement beneath us.
The air felt lighter. Tasted sweeter. As the floral scents wafted to my nose, I stared in awe. The sight felt almost too surreal, too innocent, too pure. I almost felt as though I shouldn't have been there looking at it all. Like I didn't even deserve to.
"Wow."
Hinata laughed. "You say that a lot.
But, yeah."
I looked at him.
I could just tell he was captured by it like I was. His eyes glistened, his mouth open. I watched him in his candid self.
His orange hair looked warmer. Eyes too. They shined as he stared into the distance.
Underneath all these trees, all these petals and hues of pink, he somehow looked even prettier.
He belongs here, I thought.
He looked as though he were a part of it all. Like he was a natural component, just as much as the trees, the petals, or the sky.
He was the sun itself.
He was so many things. Pure. Sweet. Innocent. Beautiful. Prettier than the cherry blossoms themselves. He was the cherry blossoms. I knew I didn't deserve him. No one did.
He looked up at me. His cheeks were rosy, his smile wide and eyes big.
"So you like it, Kageyama?"
I like you.
Though, I couldn't respond. I was simply too captured by his beauty to say anything at all.
I want him, I thought. I want all of him.
I paused, then nodded. "Yeah." I averted my gaze. I could feel that my cheeks were flushed like his.
Then I felt something.
A touch.
A hand. Hinata's hand.
It was soft and delicate. I felt his fingers close.
His hand was small. It fit into mine like clay in a mold.
I clasped my fingers.
At that moment, I knew his hands were meant to be held in my own.
Then he moved closer.
His head fell on my chest. I breathed in and out.
I hoped he couldn't feel how fast my heart was beating.
I wrapped my arms around him.
He was small, just like his hands. And warm.
I looked down when I heard his voice beneath me.
"This is nice."
I looked back up.
"Yeah."
We stayed like that for a while. Just the two of us, holding each other, both trying to take in the breathtaking sight that, at the time, felt grander than the world.
...
"You're kidding."
I heard a voice in the distance. I felt Hinata flinch in my arms, then instantly escape my grasp.
I turned towards the direction of the unfamiliar voice.
I saw a man looking to be around my age, maybe only a bit older.
He was my height. His hair was brown and messy and his eyes were green. He looked angry.
"Wow, Hinata. Already fucking someone else then?"
I glanced at him. I could see the fear in his eyes.
"I-"
"So who's this, huh?" He walked towards me.
Hinata looked at him. "Please don't."
But he kept walking towards me, quickening his pace.
I put my hands out in front of me, trying to calm him down. "Listen, man, I don't-"
"DON'T FUCK MY BOYFRIEND. HOW'S THAT?!" Hinata looked back and forth between me and him, the same fear still in his eyes.
I watched him as those same eyes widened.
"NO!"
Suddenly I felt a sharp pain shoot through my face.
After that, everything went dark.
