The Burning saint: Ascended

The dark chieftain.

Jack walked in the main hall of the stronghold of the dark chieftain and yelled out, "Yo! Bat dude! I heard you killed the templar!" The demon lord in front of Jack did not reply, it just summoned dark energy around the firespawn covering it in a black mist. From within Jack said, "Look, I know you have no respect for weak demons, but I'm here to deliver a message from the king. Now could you please remove this dark mist, it's making my skin rot." The mist cleared, revealing Jack to have lost an arm. Jack reached into its pocket and pulled out a small device, which it placed on the ground. Afterwards Jack said, "I was tasked to deliver it to you by the king after I happened by the messenger he actually sent, who I then killed, but don't worry, I didn't edit the message in any way." Jack then ran out of the stronghold in a big hurry.

The device activated and displayed a hologram of the demon king. With great anger the king said to the demon lord, "You damn fool! I gave clear orders not to step foot beyond the portal! Now because of your idiotic attack on the world on the other side of that portal, the saint is back! All because you couldn't obey one simple command. Because of your idiocy, I have declared that you, the Dark Chieftain, are no longer protected by the territorial agreement. Everyone is allowed to take your stronghold for themselves and I won't stop them, in fact I encourage them, if the saint doesn't kill you, if the other demon lords don't kill you, I will go to your stronghold myself and turn it into a pile of rubble!" The king's voice became distorted as he said, "AlSo, yOu'RE FaT!"

The message ended. The dark chieftain stood up from its throne and asked the nearest guard, "Where did that firespawn go?" The guard replied, "It left, sir." The dark chieftain covered the guard in dark energy and asked, "And who allowed it to leave?!" The guard felt its body slowly fall to pieces and said, "There were no orders to stop it!" The demon lord stabbed its claws through the guard's chest and said, "Then I guess I'll take my anger out on you." After the demon lord executed the guard, it announced, "Everyone! Prepare for battle, the king has decided we are no longer part of his nation and it's only a matter of time before the first attack! If the king wants us dead, I'll make him work for it!"

It then returned to its throne, and soon after, an alarm was triggered, followed by an announcement, "Chieftain, we're under attack! It appears they are lead by the Lich!" The dark chieftain responded, "Alright, make sure there's nothing left of them, if a dead body still has limbs attached to it, it can be reanimated."

The battle was happening outside, while the dark chieftain remained seated for if the demon lord went to fight, it would find only puny weaklings, hardly a fight worth taking part in. It would rather wait until they breach the walls, for that is when the weak have been cleared out. The demons guarding the stronghold were putting up a good fight, the sounds of blades, guns and explosions could be heard for days, until the guard captain made an announcement, "Chieftain! They have breached the wall!" The dark chieftain gave orders for its guards, "Go aid them in battle, if you think they're too much for you, lead them here, I'll take care of it. The battle kept going on for several more days. Until finally, the entire stronghold became silent.

Soon the front door of the main hall opened, and the demon lord known as the Lich came through. It walked forth and the closer it got, the more visible it was that it was using its staff as a crutch, its robes were covered in blood, and it was missing an arm. The Lich addressed the dark chieftain, barely able to make a sound it said, "You have made... A great... Mistake..." The Lich fell dead on the ground, with a silver sword stuck in its back.

The dark chieftain jumped forward, past a ball of fire that destroyed its throne. While the demon was in the air, the saint entered the main hall, with her body covered in flames she was rushing towards the demon who killed her friend. The demon lord, summoned a wall of darkness between them, only for that wall to be completely dispersed by fire burning through it and the saint punching the demon lord in the face, knocking it down, and as the saint was about to slam her feet into it, the dark chieftain swatted her out of the air with a quick swing of its hand. While they were both getting up, the dark chieftain filled the entire room with dark energy, and to counter it, the saint started discharging fire in every direction. At first they seemed evenly matched, but soon the saint started running low on energy, and the darkness started consuming her fire. But before the fire was extinguished, a hail of fire covered bullets was sent towards the demon lord, leaving cracks in its armor, until out of nowhere, a giant boulder crashed through the ceiling, leveling the entire building.

From the rubble, the sharp claws of the dark chieftain emerged. The great demon crawled half way out of the ruins, shouting in anger, "Damn the king! damn the Lich! damn the saint! and damn this cursed existence!" The dark chieftain was prevented from getting up by a sniper bullet piercing through its throat, leaving it unable to speak any further. While it recoiled in pain, the saint ran into the demon, sinking her fist into its face at full speed, breaking off its jaw. The last thing the demon lord saw before having it's eyes gauged out, was the saint standing in front of it with immeasurable hatred in her eyes. It then felt a sting in its chest, and its heart stopped beating. The last thing the dark chieftain could feel was its insides burning up slowly and painfully.

When there was nothing left of the demon lord, the saint fell down in the rubble under her, and while tears streamed out of her eyes, the frustrated voice in her head said, "Even that was not enough, the demon couldn't survive even a little longer, he deserved to suffer more."
