AUTHORS NOTE:

First of all, I'm so sorry for the delay on the new chapter! I had to go on hiatus for a bit since schoolwork is getting absolutely mental this time of year. I should be coming out with a new chapter now every week, since it's beginning to stabilize. Thank you for sticking around!

Jaia didn't take long to fall asleep. Anakin had nearly carried her all the way back to her bedroom, her legs so unstable and her mind so blank she couldn't seem to make it there without stumbling most of the way. It didn't take long for Anakin to notice, more than satisfied, as he scooped her into his arms and carried her back gently.

After he had lay her in her bed, Jaia had told him to stay, her mind still swirling from bliss and drunkenness. She couldn't quite remember what Anakin had said back to her, but she did feel a light kiss on her forehead, and the closing of her bedroom door. She could have sworn she had heard something happening in the hall, but her sleep had overtaken her before she could dwell on it.

Jaia woke up with a start, her heartbeat heavy in her head, her mouth parched. Glancing next to her steadily, she noticed that she was, in fact, alone. Not too long after, she noticed a note written next to her bed in Anakin's handwriting.

I would have stayed, but I'd like to when we're not both drunk. - A

The message made her heart jump, a sudden pulse of happiness spreading through her every bone. Had Anakin suggested that he wanted this to happen again?

No matter how many signs she was given, Jaia couldn't quite latch onto the fact that Anakin might actually care about her. He was going through a lot, primarily losing his wife, and Jaia felt as though it would be unfair to try to assess any of his feelings at the time. They hadn't really done anything... did they?

She didn't know what to consider what he had done to her the night before.

Jaia faltered in her bed, tossing and turning until she finally fell into another deep sleep, desperately hoping to catch a few minutes more before her alarm woke her for the day.

It didn't last long.

What seemed like less than a minute later, a harsh knock sounded on the door.

"Jaia- it's urgent," the voice belonged to Obi Wan, his knock aggressive, his tone more panicked than it usually was. "Jaia?"

She had been trying to find the willpower to lift herself over her pillow. Obi Wan, who was usually a complete gentleman, decided that now was not the time for that. "I'm coming in." Barging into the door, he slammed it behind him, red and out of breath.

"I could have been naked," Jaia snapped, pulling her covers over the beautiful blue gown she was still wearing. Obi Wan noticed quickly, his eyebrows raising in startled confusion.

"I would comment on... that- if we had the time," Obi Wan started, waving his hand and dismissing her outfit, "But we don't."

"What the hell does that mean?" Jaia's chest was thumping, panic and hesitation flowing through her quickly. She lifted herself from the bed, sitting up to prepare herself for whatever was to come.

"Anakin has been captured by Dooku, he's on a separatist base on a nearby system. Apparently, he was caught last night after the temple was invaded- and Anakin had been walking towards his room."
